I had a seizure last night in the ER. I was there with my dad. He had overdosed on pain pills because he just had back surgery and something happened... maybe pinched nerve and he was in extreme pain. Instead of giving him 1 Flexeril, he asked for 2 hoping that it would help more. Anyway, while waiting with him for a room I started to feel very dizzy and weak so I sat on the floor. I got the aura and told a paramedic that I was going to have a seizure. I woke up with some guys over me. I was sweating like crazy and I was confused. Pretty normal stuff. Then my whole body started twitching uncontrollably and massively. I was awake during this but do not remember much of what happened. A doctor was asking me questions. I couldn't even remember my SS#. This twitching went on for about an hour and slowly got better. They put me on an IV for fluids and gave me a prescription for migraines (had one earlier in the day and I just felt bad from the Lyme... pain and such.)
This has never happened to me after a seizure. I have had epilepsy since I was about 3. Usually I just sleep for a long time after. Also, I haven't had a seizure in about 8 years. I wonder if it has anything to do with Lyme or Autoimmune. I feel okay now. Tired, in pain... as usual. Just so confused.

Good gracious! I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sorry that happened to you.

Barby, Low magnesium can cause muscle twitching.
It can also lead to seizures.
Are you taking magnesium supplements? Which kind...look at the list of ingredients.

I do not take that anymore. Epilepsy caused the seizure... just not sure what caused the neurological event that followed.

I wonder if Bea Seibert might have some answers. She is a wealth of information and her hubby has seizures (I think).
