Same class drugs? Whats the advantage... From what I understand:
Minocycline > Doxycycline because of crossing the blood brain barrier.
Azithromycin > Clarithromycin because of longer life and better able to penetrate intracellular infections.
Ceftin _ Omnicef ?

Wolf, I think Ceftin can cross the blood brain barrier too. Dr. B is known to have touted Ceftin as being partly responsible for his recovery.
I used Omnicef for a couple of months and did well on it. Both drugs are pretty well-tolerated too.
Ceftin is a second generation cephalosporin whereas Omnicef is a 3rd gen.
Still some say Ceftin is more effective than the 3rd generation Omnicef...
I don't know.

Where does Cefdinir fall? My LLMD wouldn't give me Ceftin.

My LLNP says Ceftin does not affect TBD's at all.
But having said this, I don't know if I trust my LLNP any longer.
Cefdinir is the generic for Omnicef.

I don't know about that our LLMD said that Ceftin is good against Lyme and Bart... I know my daughter did very well on Ceftin and she is dealing with bart as well.

Like I said, don't trust this LLNP so much any more.
lully...another strike against her. I'm seeing a new LLMD soon!

I guarantee Ceftin/Cefuroxime works well against Lyme. All of my LLMDs have used it and I have herxed very hard on it...even with monotherapy.
Burascanno and Wentraub both cured themselves with Ceftin, so it's effective...as for comparing with Omnicef, not sure but current LLMD is a veteran and prefers Omnicef and I did notice I could use way less probiotics with Omnicef. Ceftin is an instant yeast infection.

"Ceftin is an instant yeast infection."
No need for that right now, I think I'll roll with Omnicef.

Agree w/ Wolfed Out...had no issues w/ yeast until I started Ceftin, but willing to stick w/ it if is is that effective. It is the only drug though that I taste (yuck!) when taking. I am treating both bart and lyme w/ Ceftin, Flagyl and Rifampin.

I have pretty good success (4months) on Ceftin and Zith. Haven't had any yeast issues and eat some sweets also.
However, I don't know that I would know if I had yeast. My probiotics must be effective?
