Switchinh over to malarone zith, rotating in doxy. My LLMD said both zith and doxy will also hit bart-anyone else ever hear this?

Nope. But I have read that it helps to add doxy to rifampin when treating bart.

Our LLMD wrote this about treating Bartonella:
"Many antibiotics used to treat Lyme disease will also be effective for Bartonella.
The more specific drugs are Levaquin , Ciprofloxacin,Moxifloxin,Doxycycline,Minocycline,Cephalosporins,Rifampin and Bactrim. Most medications have side effects and needs to have careful clinical and lab. tests observation regularly. Every LLMD has their favourites combinations and will vary from doctor to doctor."

I recall reading Doxy can hit bart henselae.
And my doc also says zithro + doxy can hit bartonella. But he also said it doesn't necessarily hit it very well..

IV Antibiotics (6 month course) finally helped my Lyme symptoms.......as soon as I got off of the IV antibiotics, my left parotid swelled. I had surgery and the surgeon found 3 Large, Deep, "walled-off" abcesses. That was cleaned out and allowed to drain for a week. I had 6 weeks of IV Vanc. after that. AND NOW ........ I've been symptom free for 2 years - Wah-Hoo !!!!!! There IS HOPE of getting over Lyme .........I guess it's just different for everyone. I hope you ALL find your 'cure'!!!!

Oops------I didn't mention that the abscesses were caused by Bartonella!!!!

It can hit it, but is best if combined with Rifampin.

unfortunately, I'm taking malarone right now, so can't take rifampin. I just took 3 weeks of Rifampin, which really helped, but LLMD wanted to hit babs first. So I am alternating malarone with zith and doxy to keep it down.

LLMD just started me on zith for Bart and lyme coverage along with Flagyl pulse. Didn't want to do doxy again during summer months with extreme sun sensitivity for me.

only dealing with one co-infection, so LLMD has our son on a Doxy/Rifampin combo for the LD/Bart.
