How are you doing with your illness, are you recovered?
I'm trying to connect some dots here with chronic urticaria and Lyme disease, will you participate?
Please answer a few questions:
How long have you had hives from heat exposure?
Does taking an anti-histamine produce a reaction that causes more hives? If not, do anti-histamines help?
Does alcohol clear you hives?
Are there any medicines or supplements you cannot tolerate?
Are you hyper-sensitive to any foods, have allergies or other triggers?
Have you taken the drugs Plaquenil, Mepron, or Azithromycin? And, did you have any negative effects with any of them?
Are you hyper-sensitive to corticosteroids (in this case, meaning do corticosteroids cause a bigger problem after stopping the drug)?

Unfortunately, I am not well yet, still working on that. I've been sick with Lyme for 6.5yrs.
I've always had problems tolerating heat. I don't sweat well. If I get too hot my skin turns red, hives pop up, develop severe abdominal pain and nausea, feel weak and tired. I've also been known to pass out if I try to ignore the symptoms.
When this happens I have to find a way to cool down ASAP. I have to use glucose and water to treat the abdominal pain and nausea. Ice on my skin and benadryl helps some with the hives. Even with the benadryl the hives can take days to go away.
I've never tried putting alcohol on the hives.
I'm allergic to latex and plastic tapes, they cause hives and burn like blisters. I have seasonal allergies to dust, pollens and mold.
I'll have to think about the meds and supplements. I didn't take much of anything at all before I got sick with Lyme. Keflex makes me vomit and Bactrim is hard to tolerate too. I have not had any problem with Plaquenil, Mepron, or Zithromax.

Just to be clear, I didn't suggest using alcohol ON the hives. See, when I was a teenager struggling to get my hives under control, I found an interesting dilemma. Anti-histamines made my hives MUCH worse. Drinking alcohol cleared them right up. So, I spent a lot of my youth years in a haze.
We share common seasonal allergies -- although I can add to your list with pets, trees, and ragweed. Mold being a huge problem for me.
Sammy, I was so refreshed just to find a name for the condition and understand the process. If you haven't already, Google Cholinergic Urticara. There's a website that explains the faulty process.
Unfortunately, they haven't been able to solve the problem yet.
