I have taken 25mg of Benadryl nightly to help me sleep. It really does the trick, though I am still a bit 'hung over' the next morning.
This is an antihistamine, and as far as I can tell doesn't affect the immune system....but does anyone know different?
If I don't take it, i am wired and awake several times a night. I have tried melatonin, but it doesn't seem to help.
The benadryl really works for me, but I don't want to continue taking it if it will affect my immune function in some way.

I am told by my doctors that it is totally safe to take it even every day. (So they say...) I have been taking 50 to 75 mg every night for the last month - I have severe insomnia also. So, I hope those docs know what they're talking about.

Just don't take antihistamines if you have a seizure disorder. They can actually lower your seizure threshold and trigger seizures.

Benedryl has been my go-to sleep med for 11 years. I take 50mg. My last CD57 was 87. My other immune cells seem to stay in range.
I also hate the Benedryl hangover. But it beats not sleeping!

I guess I am super sensitive to the effect of 25mg Benadryl......it knocks me out....sometimes I just take a half.
