I'm on day 7 of malarone/zith/doxy. Started feeling worse yesterday..more fatigue, mild dizzy and nausea. Muscles ache.
I thought the herx started on day 4-is this a hard and fast rule?
How long do they last?
Isn't there another herx at week 4?
Hate to be going thru this again, but much more tolerable then when I first got sick

Babesia flares every 7 days. So, instead of a herx, this could be a babs flare.
Mark it down and see when you get the next one.
My flares lasted 48 hours. Got them every 7 days once I started treating babs.
Will you be adding artemesinin at some point? That reduced my flares dramatically.
Lyme flares every 4 weeks so the week 4 herx for lyme can be bad.

oh, I am on ART. 5 days on, 2 off.

There are no hard and fast rules about Babs flares or lyme flares.
Some people have Babs die offs every 5 days, some every 14 days.
sorry, no easy answers, everyone is different.

I feel weak and shakey-anyone else experience that with babs treatment?

My daughter had those episodes. Even during her sleep. For her, it was a blood sugar issue while treating babs. She was helped alot by eating a piece of fruit like an apple.

Well-I'm on day 7 of babs meds, and week 4 of lyme meds...I guess I'm having a double herx-bad timing.

No herx, there's nothing to suggest that there is even a die-off reaction for something like babesia. Babesia drugs do make you feel more tired.

I'm a week on malarone, and today I have had the worst air hunger, anxiety and muscle twitching I've had in a while.
I've also had issues with sound sensitivity today that I haven't had this bad in a long time--kids are really loud today and driving me CRAZY!!!!

nybasketball212-I've heard that there are no herx's from babs-but I'm not so sure.
Starfall-can you describe air hunger? I feel like I'm breathing harder just sitting doing nothing-but I don't feel like I'm sucking air thru a straw. Whats the dif between air hunger and shortness of breath?

I agree that herxes with Babs can vary individually. I have felt weak and shaky from it also.

With my air hunger, I feel like I'm getting a full breath, but there's not enough oxygen in the air. That's the best I can describe it.
And yes, I can get it either while moving around or while sitting. It's usually better when I lie down, but I had a bad night the other night that it kept waking me up.

It takes four days for Mepron to begin to build up in your blood and 3-4 weeks to reach theraputic levels. The worst herxes are around three- four weeks.
The first month I became much more depressed with terrible dizziness and extreme fatigue - no stamina. It was pretty bad.
After the worst month, it has been two steps forward, one step back. After 3 and 1/2 months, I now have good days when I can do things and feel a bit motivated and even happy and excited about plans.
I never planned anything while really sick. My brain couldn't put together a string of words to make a thought to create a plan. It was an overwhelming feeling of stupidity and confusion. I felt crushed by the dreariness of it all.

Is that the same for malarone?
Before my relapse, toward the end of treatment taking malarone was like taking candy!
I guess my babs is back

Malarone contains Mepron so I guess it would be similar.
