You should at least have Windows Media Player installed on your computer to hear it all.

Wish I could understand what's being said, too much static and phone-quality audio.

Also, not very sure why we would need WMP to play an .mp3.

I can't hear it well either. Gary, would you mind summarizing key points here? I'd love to see them.

listen through headphones. i heard it very well. Dr. burgdorfer has been diagnosed with lyme too [Frown]

what a nice man. so generous to give you his time Gary.

There wasn't really anything there that we don't already know, really.

I have trouble understanding him too. Would you please give us a synopsis of what he said? He was very nice to answer questions for you. Is he sick too? He lives about eleven miles from me.

Gary, thank you.

Why is it that everyone who worked with Lyme and these researchers are getting the illness? It makes me think maybe Onbam is right after all. [Frown] I always thought that poster may be a bit paranoid about transmission possibilities....but the truth is they have done more research on the topic than I ever could. I'm sorry to hear Willy has it as well.

Onbam has stopped posting too. Hope this member is still on the forum!

Good interview Gary.

Good articles onbam. What about sperm, respiratory fluids and saliva. Has anyone checked that. I have articles about borrelia in eye fluid. So I would assume it is in all bodily fluids.

I agree with seek. Maybe that is why Dr. B got out of treating patients so abruptly.

It is important to note that Dr. Burgdorfer's work was basically hands-on with ticks. Its not unprecedented that many researchers, even when taking the "average" precautions, end up with vector-borne conditions from their specimens. Especially during the time that he was doing research, the standards for protection were quite lax. Even today, many researchers are using the barest of protective gear when dealing with thousands of ticks or other vector at a time. If they upgraded to Biohazard Level 3 containment procedures, this would help due to the requirement of total-body protection second only to air-sealed suits necessary in Level 4 (These are what you see in the movies for Ebola and the like). Consider that even a few years ago and back when Dr. Burgdorfer was working the standards were much, much more lax. The best of beekeepers don't make it through their career without being stung and those working with ticks every day have a great risk of being bitten unless proper safety measures and in place, which are hard to justify to bean counters, sadly.

In Cure Unknown she writes that Burgdorfer contracted lyme when the urine of an infected rabbit shot into his eye. He had an EM rash, was treated and I thought recovered.

Years later when the press got information about it, the government denied that he ever had it saying his test results were not conclusive -

This was after the tests were made nearly impossible for anyone to pass so that Missouri could not be included in the Lyme Zone.

Maybe he was treated quickly enough that he got over the infection. She does not say in her book that he continued to be sick.

Thanks so much, Gary. What a thrill to be able to just hear his voice.
We owe a lot to him!!

nefferdun, i would think that dr. burgdorfer would know whether or not he was/is sick better than somone who is not living in his body.

he said in the interview with LT that he is sick, diagnosed with lyme, parkinsons..etc..

Awesome! Thanks!

Yes, sadly he does have Parkinson's. And, as we and he know, that is caused by Lyme! As always, there are often other issues, too, like co-infections, heavy metals, etc.

It's sad. And Dr. M, who did research for 20 years in his basement on Borrelia and Alzheimers now has AD himself. I was heartbroken when I found out. But again, he did this research totally on his own, clearly without protection.
