I ask because I have severe OCD, too. And in 'Saving Sammy', a book about a little boy suffering from OCD, apparently his OCD was related to elevated STREP titers. And I think doctors are even less likely to prescribe antibiotics for strep-related OCD than they are for chronic Lyme, as sad as that sounds. Would Omnicef kill strep?

I had more partial seizures this past Wednesday, too. I woke up with memory problems Wednesday morning (what day is it? what should I be doing? etc...), then a funny chemical taste in my mouth, along with a weird 'I'm not here' feeling, followed by a dizzy spell. I called my neighbor shortly thereafter, and he drove me to the lab to get my prolactin level drawn. Apparently I had more seizures in the car, both going and coming home. I don't even remember the entire ride to the lab, and my neighbor told me later I kept asking him who he was again?

Then when I got home my daughter called me, and apparently while I was on the phone with her I dropped the phone and didn't respond. She called back, but the phone was busy because I was seizuring and didn't realize I'd dropped the phone. She panicked and called my neighbor to come check on me, and my neighbor ended up calling an ambulance. While in the ambulance I seizured some more, and they said that during one of my seizures my eyes rolled back in my head and up to the right.

Oh, I almost forgot!...when I had that seizure while talking on the phone, I was smoking a cigarette at the time. I must've really been really 'out of it' because, not only did I drop the phone and not realize it, but I burned two of my fingers 'zoning'...didn't feel ANY pain whatsoever while it was happening...but now I have two blisters between the fingers I was using to hold the cigarette.

I don't know much about Augmentin.

And I'm very sorry to hear that you are still having seizures. Hope they can find something to treat them!!!

Do you realize you could burn down the house .. and you with it?

I know. My life is OCD, and now seizures though...and now I can't even drive. So what else am I supposed to do with my life? Sorry, I need my nicotine. Maybe once they kill my bugs I won't want to smoke anymore. I know I used to only smoke a pack until these bugs attacked my brain; now I smoke like a chimney.

elizzza,

I just added Augmentin just for a tooth, jaw, infection. I am on Zith, Omnicef for Lyme (tried Bactrim to hit bart but herx was so bad had to stop it) Anyway, the Augmentim was prescribed by mainstream doc just for the infection and the Augmentin has not seemed to affect the lyme and Bart in anyway. Although the first time I was diagnosed with Lyme in 2005 - main stream doc prescribed 2 wks of Augmentin for it. (obviously,it was not enough to even touch the Lyme) so to answer your ?, Augmentin is prescribed for lyme, but how effective it is is another questions.

I hope you are OK?

Thanks for the info on Augmentin. Even so, given my OCD is beyond severe anymore, I think I'd like to try it for Lyme, just in case high strep titers are my real problem...or even another problem in addition to Lyme.

I'm okay though. To be totally honest I often feel better having seizures, as crazy as that sounds. I actually slept deeply for a few hours the night before (of?) my seizures, and then the night after them I slept deeply again for a long period of time. I actually remember waking up, feeling rested with absolutely NO anxiety, NO racing thoughts or worries, and I can't remember the last time I felt like that.

I usually (when I'm not seizuring) only sleep lightly part of the night (if at all) and toss and turn the rest of the night.

I read somewhere that seizures are the body's way of trying to chemically correct something in the brain?

Augmentin is Amoxicillin. It's known to drive Bb into cyst-form. You should ask your doctor about a cyst-buster like Flagyl if you're going to be taking that long-term.
