I need to stop rifampin and start mepron because of red blood cell issues which my doctor thinks is due to babs.
So I need to start some herbs to keep hitting the bart. Any suggestions would be great!!Thanks

I could suggest: Bar-1, A-Bart, Samento, Banderol and Cumanda..
Stephen Buhner's new regimen: Red root, Boneset, Japanese knotweed, Rhodiola, Ashwaghanda (I would suggest checking individual herbs for side effects)

Will you be taking zith with the mepron? It is my understanding that hits bart

Cumanda worked for us. We took it along with Samento and a few other things.

Zith and Mepron will do nothing for bart. These drugs may help with babs, but didn't kill it for us. In case you need it down the road...you could add in GSE...that is what finally worked to kill our babesia.
But Cumanda is a great herb to add in for bart. It also has some effect on lyme.

Thanks, I will be taking clarithromycin, the generic for biaxin along with the mepron not zith. I have read here that a few people think that biaxin hits bart, is that true? But I will be looking into these herbs. Thanks!!!

Ya know, now that I think about it, My 5yr old daughter's LLMD added in Zith for bart. I'm almost positive she added it to amoxicillin. But I'm going to call on Monday to be sure.

You can take levaquin with malarone if you want to go that route.
I was told by a LLMD whose partner was naturopathic there are no effective herbs that control bartonella.
You can try HH2 but you have to take a HUGE amount. I used this and cumanda without success. It is very expensive when you take the amount needed.

Cumanda seems to be pretty effective for Bart.

I restarted knotweed (40 drops herbal essence tincture x3 daily) and boneset tea (4 tea cages daily) 4 days ago and my elbow exploded with major inflammmation which is a new symptom, and all my bart symptoms are thru the roof and very severe. Extreme head pressure, chills, full body burning, elbow puffed up and hurting like HELL, etc.
I'm not sure if I just caused a major herx but it was one of those nights laying around in full body pain and wondering if I should hit the ER. It felt like if bart was going to kill me, this is the moment. Still recuperating.
I quit the herbs until I can get the book and dose it accurately.
Whatever happened was the most severe thing I've had to date. Any theories?
Cumanda did nothing for me. Cryptolesis worked wonders but who can afford to see that one through.

Lulu,
Just saw this thread.
Rodiola and ashwagandha are both adaptogens. Why take both? Are you saying one or both also have antibiotic protperties?
Hubby has tried both in low doses. Could not tolerate ashwagandha very well.
As an adaptogen he did better on siberian ginseng (eleuthero) -- Herb Pharm brand tincture as described per Buhner.
Any idea when the updated book will be published?

i think certain people on this thread are having success with A-Bart or Bar-1

Bea, He suggested all of the above.. I understand certain adaptogens such as Rodiola and Eleuthero should not be taken together, and only because they have not been studied extensively enough.
I do not believe they have any anti-microbial properties but act as immune stimulants.

Toppers,
Get back on that! lol
If it worked why would you stop it completely? This is why people encourage others to go slow. or you'll end up doing this and stopping the protocol all together.
(same thing happens with salt/c'ers)

Why are you stopping the rifampin? Curious because I am getting ready to restart it.

jlcd1-They give zith to anyone under 18 to attack Bart. It does have some effect, I've herxed on it for Bart, it may not completely get rid of it for most though. I guess children under 18 cannot take the other drugs used to treat Bart. Im guessing Biaxin would hit Bart as its in the same family as Zith.
