I want to add something to the Mepron/zithro combo as I am at a plateau. I have used artemisinin for over a year but it is not doing anything now. The LLMD thought the babesia developed resistance to it.
So how much alinia do you take and does it help? Thanks

I took Alinia for 2 months, didn't notice much of anything on it. It *may* have helped a little with dry skin. :\
Note: I only took 500mg daily. Most take 2x that amount. But, I had diarrhea from the higher dosage.

I think the combo of alinia and bactrim were bacteriostatic for hubby's babs or whatever blood-borne parasite he has. Those were his only babs meds for about 15 months -- was also on very very low dose oral zithromax as well.
Have you taken flagyl? It is much cheaper than the alinia and does seem to work on some blood borne parasites.
Adding flagyl into hubby's combo seems to really be stirring things up -- but he is taking it IV. Not sure if oral would work as well.
Alinia is pretty expensive. Hard to say if it would help in your case or not. Hubby took 1 pill a day for 4 months and 2 pills a day for 4 months.

I didn't realize it was expensive - can hardly afford the Mepron so I will consider adding something else.
I can't tolerate flagyl. How about tindamax? Will that help?
I just started cryptolepis a few days ago.
I hope your poor husband finds something to help, Bea. What a struggle he has been through. He is so lucky to have you.
If alinia does not do much for anyone I will skip that route.

Although both flagyl and tindamax are antiparasite meds, I don't think they work the same way. I posted a pubmed article a couple of days ago where doxy plus flagyl plus clindamycin got rid of babesia in 3 out of 4 dogs.
Forgot to mention -- hubby's LLMD told us that alinia is made from flagyl plus a 2nd med. Have not verified that.
Nefferdun -- will post an update on hubby in the next few days. So hard to tell if the meds are working or if the bug is winning.

It's possible to get Alinia at a much reduced rate from a pharmacy that gets it from India
When I was on Alinia I had these bowel movements that looked just like the pictures on Dr Natura's website......disgusting
