Ok, I have been on Doxy 200 mg 2 x day for a week tomorrow and diflucan 150mg 1 time a week ( I can take that up to 3 times a week if I want).
On Saturday I was out in the sun and did get a LITTLE sun burn on my nose and tops of cheeks (we were digging the hole for our dog we put down) it was only 50 degrees I didn't think about the sun with it being that cool! I have since bought sun block and a hat!
Anyway Sunday morning I woke up with a sore throat and feeling really like I had the flu. I already have felt really "pukey" and just not "good", very tired and like I have been run over by a truck.
What I want to know is... is it possible to get a sore throat while on Doxy, or is this possibly "just" Herxing?

Are your glands swollen? I know the doxy really brought out bart symptoms with my daughter.

Well, now hmmm...Cause when I saw my LLMD she said she wasn't sure about Bart.
She wanted to take a wait and see approach. She said yes positive on Babs, but not sure to Bart.
Guess I better call her today. I know I should have called her anyway!
Thanks!

is this your first time on abx? ie doxy?
When i started doxy i tolerated it fine, until a week in, i had to start taking it with food due to nausea but then the same thing happened, i started feeling flu like, and got a sore throat.. after that EVERY gland in my neck, i mean EVERY ONE.. like 6 on each side of my neck, under my ears, around my jaw, so forth.. they ALL became swollen. LLMD said it was due to lack of detox and the massive anount of bugs i was killing. It took about 2 weeks for them to go back to normal.
SO i guess what im saying is my two cents is that it may either be the start of your lymph system being worked up from the die off, or you are simply coming down with a little virus or something harmless.
Dont hesitate to call your Dr if anything gets worse!
I hope you feel better soon. STAY OUT OF THE SUN! I had quite an impressive Doxy Tan Posted by Jacqi (Member # 6619) on :
I have used Doxy before, but not for Lyme, just the regular 100 mg once a day from my regular doc for bronchitis and stuff like that. I ALWAYS take with food otherwise I am seriously sick to my stomach.
I am going to call my LLMD here in a few, just to do a report, I think it will ease my mind
And oh yes, I have most definitely learned my lesson when it comes to the sun! lol
Thanks for chipping in your two cents...it does help!

Sorry you had to put your dog down!
Do you think you are getting any acid reflux? It is common for doxy to cause this and it makes your throat sore. Be sure you eat when you take it and don't lay down for at least an hour.
Otherwise it might be another infection like babesia coming to the surface. That often causes a sore throat. I can also cause a "dry unproductive cough" and losing your voice - "froggy".

Thanks about the dog...we are making it through...
I already take meds for GERD so don't think its that.. I always eat a full meal, and stay sitting cause I had seen on here about not laying down.
My LLMD says I already have Babesia, but I didn't know that that could cause me to lose my voice and cause me to sound froggy, but now that you say that, it does explain a LOT about my past sound like a frog... My hubby jokes with me sometimes and says "hi, I would like to introduce you to my wife, the frog" LOL
We figure if we can't laugh about this stuff we would end up crying over it, and what good would THAT do?!?!?
