this may be a duh kind of question but i don't seem to understand all this inflammation talk. my Sed rate is always normal but even my LLMd says i'm 'inflammed'.
So... what's the best measure of inflammation for lymies??

There's the C3a and C4a
I agree. I feel like a hot iron on my insides, however my SED rate is "only" 46 ( range is 0-20 ). I've seen others with numbers in the 100's and they feel fine.
It's like having a severe sunburn on the inside. It'd be nice if my tests would reflect more how I feel, because my docs don't seem to think 46 is that alarming.

If you have hypercoagulation ( and many of us do ) the sed rate will be low. It messes up the testing because your blood is thick and doesn't "settle out" .. which is what the test is all about.
MANY MANY Lyme patients have LOW sed rates.. but tons of inflammation. My sed rate was "3" when I was in the middle of treatment.

oh..that makes sense Lymetoo..
and i know the sunburn feeling too, Hambone, especially on my chest and back. thank you both for your feedback.

Someone posted that many years back and I just happened to remember it because it impressed me. I never could figure out why my sed rate was so low.
If you took a poll here, the majority would say their sed rates are low.

Wow! I didn't know this.
How do you know if you have hypercoagulation?
Does hypercoag mess up a C4a ?
Y'all, I am not kidding. This inflammation is so bad right at this moment I feel like I am about to lose my ever-lovin' mind. I am so on fire and feel like I need to get out this body before I snap.
Remember being a kid and skinning your knees and your mom put methiolate or mercurochrome on it and you scream bloody murder because it burned so bad?
That's totally what my innards are feeling right now. Posted by seekhelp (Member # 15067) on :
My sed rate is often ZERO and I feel totally inflamed. Test means nothing IMO.

Seek.. maybe you have hypercoagulation.
Hambone.. sounds like you are talking about burning as a major symptom .. not just inflammation. I never felt burning. My inflammation was in the form of joint and muscle pain.
Did you try curcumin?
The patients I've known that had burning found it very difficult to get rid of.
As for the C4a.. I don't know.
Hemex lab has testing for hypercoagulation.

Crap
I've noticed it isn't bad at all in the mornings. Very tolerable. Afternoons it starts gaining momentum and by evening I'm torched.

OUCH .. I didn't mean to say that you won't get well! Just saying it's a tough symptom and takes awhile. May have to try several different abx to get to it.

Lymetoo, Dr. C tested me before through HEMEX. The results were normal I believe. No other labs every showed hypercoagulation either. It is hard to believe it's not an issue to a degree for me. The whole picutre is just SO SO confusing.
