My mouth has been so dry lately. And I'm thirsty all the time. I've been drinking water all day. Is this a Lyme symptom? I'm not taking any antibiotics right now just herbals.

Do you also pee a lot? Have you had this symptoms since you became sick or is it recent?
Look up "diabetes insipidus" and see if that sounds like you. Lack of anti-dieuretic hormone.
Sjogren's? Have you checked for that as well?
Oh and drinking only water all the time isn't necessarily good either. Our bodies need electrolytes to replace what we excrete.

Thats a classic sign of Diabetes..... I know I have it! and that was the FIRST symptom! Easy to test... just get a fasting blood glucose level from Dr. Or if anyone has diabetes that you know...you can use their meter. That won't diagnosis diabetes....but if your sugar level is really high...then your on to something!

I was evaluated for diabetes when I first got sick, before I knew it was Lyme. So I'm pretty sure that's not it.
I've always been a big water drinker. But lately I've been much more thirsty than normal. What else should I drink? Coconut water?

I recently read a book about mold sickness called "Surviving Mold" I remembered excessive thirst being mentioned in the book... so I did a search online with the author's name and thirst.
I found this article referencing the info I remembered.

Runner,
Our daughter has this exact problem (among many others). She had a strong positive Lyme test, and we suppose that is the cause.
She has been tested for diabetes insipidus several times, kidney function, anxiety attacks, etc, and all come up negative.
She has seen several doctors, chiropractors, a naturopath, a homeopath, a nephrologist, an LLMD. Nobody can find any way to treat her dry mouth & excessive thirst, and nobody seems to know what she should do. Other than take electrolytes.
She drinks only water and herb teas. It's by far not her worst symptom, so we just try to live with it.

If you can find a LL endocrinologist, that's who you should see about Diabetes Insipidus, etc. Or if not LL, as least someone who works with pituitary disorders like DI. Try to get a referral. I'm looking for someone myself.
When it goes on long enough, it's not a benign symptom. I now have tons of dental work needed because of the extreme dry mouth!! And I don't eat sugar or refined carbs and am good about dental hygiene. A real shock.
The same goes for the dry eyes, if you have that, too. I didn't know that's what some of my eye symptoms were until I saw a LL opthalmologist.

Are you by chance taking Paxil or another Anti- Depressant?

Like a light bulb -- I think this is my major problem. I've had these symptoms for many years. Always mentioned it to every doctor and nothing was addressed. It has escalated out of control in the last 2 weeks (since dental work) and had a major niacin flush after taking nighttime supplements one night. Since then, it threw EVERYTHING out of balance. If I wasn't leaving for Dr. K's clinic on Sunday, I would go to the hospital. Major thirst (cannot seem to quech), frequent urination, mild discomfort in kidney areas, weird taste in back of mouth, and discomfort in mouth (especially after recent dental work where I have a temporary cap and onlay; even discolored the temporary cap). I am trying to replenish myself the best I can until I get to Washington. For the first time, I'm taking xanax in the evenings to just help myself get through the night. Anxiety is through the roof. Adrenals are mis-firing constantly. Hope everything is going to be okay.
Saw doctor on Monday. She just doesn't know. Said it was good I was going to Dr. K's clinic. Basic urinalysis came out ok, as did basic bloodwork (except Urea Nitrogen was a little low, whatever that is). I hope I'm not doing damage by not intervening NOW. But I just don't think I'll get the right help around here. Wish I could re-assure myself and feel calm.
Please send some prayers my way. This has been a terrible escalation.
