How do I get the uric acid out of my legs? Any ideas?
I have changed my diet to a more vegetarian diet with almost no sugar, very few simple carbs and no alcohol.
Still drink black tea in the morning and green tea in the afternoon. Black Cherry juice in the evening.
I am waiting on the Igenex tests.
Thanks, MattH

You're not on meds for it?
My parents were both dxd with gout in the 60's or 70's .. now I know they had Lyme.

Not on meds yet. Did get my herbs from Sarah yesterday.
I am waiting for my doc to say she got the results from Igenex before seeing her.
Started taking more vitamin C to see if that would help. Was on 2g/day and going to 4 to 5 grams.
Thanks, MattH

Nettle leaves are supposed to be good for getting the uric acid out of joints.
For my joint pain, nettle leaves have been more helpful than anything else I've tried. I don't have gout, but it still helps a ton. I'm using Eclectic Institute brand, 2 caps/day. (No financial connections with this brand/company.)
Ask your doctor and pharmacist about nettles before taking them to make sure there aren't any drug-herb interactions...
Good luck,

How do you know if they weren't tested? Just curious.

Razzle,
Thanks for the suggestion of Nettle leaves and the brand. I will give it a try.

Good luck MattH! I was diagnosed with Lyme arthritis in both my knees over 10 years ago, thing was at that time my treating LLMD told me somewhere down the line I would get some form of gout.
That was back in 1999 when he told me this, he was right! Just last month an MRI revealed Pseudogout in my right knee, the same pain is now occuring in my left knee.
I went to see an Ortho about this and I am up the creek without that paddle. My options were over the counter meds which I cannot take because of the major GI problems I have had for the last 3 years.
My other option was steroids which we all know is a no no. I asked about surgery to remove the Pseudogout from my knee but he told me it would come right back again.
I am at a loss because I am having a hard time walking these days (only 54), pain killers only provide temporary relief. In time it will cripple me, does anyone know if any other people with Lyme and associated co-infections have ever developed Pseudogout from tick borne disease?
Any information will be greatly appreciated,God Bless all in the Lyme community. POP

I've had stiffness in my limbs and back that gradually set in a couple of years after the bite. It hasn't gotten any worse over the years (bit 30 years ago) but when under stress I stiffen up more until I get a good night of sleep.
Please don't envision yourself as becoming totally disabled from this. I can still do quite a bit physically once I get motivated to go to the gym. I'm just not half as flexible as normal people.
I drink Cat's Claw tea and treat pain/stiffness with old fashioned hot bath soaks with chamomile and nettle leaves, a light massage after and a slathering of Aspercreme before bed. That seems to add great relief temporarily.
