The only other time I've really treated for lyme was last spring when I first got my diagnosis. I was on Biaxin 500 mg for two months.
Five days after starting the biaxin, I came down with a nasty cold/flu.
Fast forward to this week -- I'm finally back on antibiotics, this time doxy. Never taken doxy before until now. Day 6, I develop a sore throat. Now I'm up at 4 am with a VERY painful throat and am quite obviously coming down with a cold (had a few sneezes, can feel the nose starting).
Apart from one other cold, a month or two after the initial Biaxin episode, these are the only times I've been "sick" in the past few years.
Is this a good thing?! It's literally exactly the same pattern -- start abx, wait 5 or 6 days, cue sore throat/cold/flu. When it happened last spring I also ended up with a nasty rash which my doc said was a herx. We'll see if that happens again.
I am really miserable now but am hoping this is an indicator of progress.
Oh, and my mood feels more normal again, ever since the sore throat started.

up!
Edited to add:
Husband has the sore throat too so it's not JUST a herx, but still weird timing since I NEVER get sick.

Maybe the cold or sore throat is a herx reaction.

I don't think it's "just" a herx since my husband feels like he's getting sick too -- we must have picked up a bug.
What I am wondering about is what exactly these abx are doing to my system that makes me get sick after one week every time I start taking them.
When I don't take the abx, I never catch anything.
It's really weird.

This has happened to my son, too. He's been on abx for over a month now and has been very sick twice (including now, as we speak). This is very unusual for him.
Both of these illnesses seem to be viral. Interestingly, I had one doc tell me that Lyme treatment would kick up viruses. Seems to be the case for us.
