I am about to start 2 x weekly bicillin shots. I am wondering for those of you that have taken this, how long until you herxed? When I started Doxy it was 3 days, but some of my herbal treatments were about a week, others were the next day.
thanks!

Ive been on it a while. I didn't herx at all. This isn't really surprising for me though, I have very light reactions to everything.

clock work for me. Get the shot and 24 hours later big herx...pain, fever, flulike symptoms. This was always followed another 24 hours later by relief.

Bicillin was my favorite ABX.

Bicillin has been good to me. I would say you may feel something the first week. I hear from alot of people that it makes you very tired. I can attest to that. That is the major thing i noticed. Also expect an increase in pain.

It takes months for bicillin to demonstrate any positive effect. Be patient. Good luck

For me, the first shot I did, that night (I had it in the morning) I had a terrible herx. I barely though I could move. Thankfully it passed over night. I have not had a herx to that degree since and I have been on them 3x per week for about 7 months. I think they have helped me turn the corner on my lyme for sure... I think you will be pleased, just hang in there.

Also, I learned that if I rode a stationary bike for 5 minutes after the im shot, I never had any trouble with lumps where the shots went or anything. I also have had a great friend- nurse give them to me and she does them very slowly as it is thick and that kept me from hurting in the spot as well. It took us awhile to learn that... Now, a piece of cake..

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I have been nervous about starting it. My neurological symptoms have gotten much worse recently. But if my doctor says this is what I need, I believe him. I am also starting minocycline and biaxin this week. So I am bracing myself for a rough time. I am getting a jumpstart on some housework, and getting my bedroom comfy and cozy, since I might not be leaving it much for a little while.

I am really glad to hear how well you all did with it. And thanks for the tips, willbeatthis. I really like your screen name. Its good to stay positive.

space the meds out a few days when you start. If you dont, you will not know what side effects are coming from which med. Mino is a tough one, I couldnt tolerate it.

good luck.

I did three weekly 1.2MU Bicillin shots for six months. I'm not much of a herxer. I would say the Bicillin helped me a lot. Certainly one of my favorite ABX.

Only side effect I noticed was fatigue.

Oh, and three months after stopping my butt still hurts in this one spot that was used too often.

When injecting, visualy divide the butt cheek into four quadrants. You want to hit the upper outer quandrant, otherwise you may hit a nerve. Happened to me once. You only want to feel that kind of pain once in your life. Ever have a dentist hit a nerve with the novacaine needle? Magnify that by 1000
