i was going to get a steroid injection for a raised scar on my face. i never had any reaction to a steroid injection before, and i dont think there would be much cortisone in the injection since its such a small area. still i want to be safe about it, so is doing this a terrible idea?

I would consult with your doctor, but I think that the general consensus would be to not do it until you're completely recovered for a while.

Talk to your LLMD. If there is just a small amount it may be fine. For example, using a hydrocortisone cream will do nothing to make Lyme worse. My LLMD isn't against steroids-- SO LONG, as they are used in VERY small amounts and in an appropriate manner.

Me personally I really would try to stay away as much as physically possible. But if its small and localized it might be ok.

I lost six months of my life after getting steroid injections. It shut down my immune system and made me bedridden for six months. Lost 75 pounds during that time. All I could eat was a saltine cracker or two a day.

I was constantly nauseated and had dry heaves almost every morning. Worst six months of my life. Steroids for me? Never again.

Not saying it will happen to you, but since you asked...

i respond well to steroids, but i would only use steroids if on abx. I would also only use steroids in a real serious situation, like severe pain as an example. i dont know anything about using steroids for a scar. Is it to make it look better? Is it that bad? If its not majorly screwing up your life, you may want to think twice about it. But its likely to be a small and local amount.
