I am getting a picc line tomorrow morning,
getting stresses out by it.
It is going in my arm that hurts
all the time any suggestions?

Hello,
I have had one in for about four months now without any problems. It did not hurt when they put it in, but a few days after it did feel slightly irritated. Now I do not even know that it is there. Do they have to place it in the arm that hurt all the time? I understand being stressed about his, as I was, but eventually you will not really know that it is there. Any Idea how long it will be in? Good luck!

just make sure it is above the elbow as it makes it much easier to deal with

My daughter had it done yesterday and it was really so much better than we imagined. The actual procedure only took about 7 minutes. She said the numbing shot was the only pain she felt. She has been a bit sore today but mostly its been all good.

We too were really scared but the placement went just fine.

Good luck tomorrow!

Personally, my PICC insertion was a breeze, as is having it in place (8 months). It's easy to use, no oozing or bleeding like MB above.

I have a plastic sleeve for showering that I got at my local pharmacy (closed mitt at the end).

Occasionally it hurts a little bit, like a pinch at the insertion sight, but it's not a big deal.

I have heard that occasionally people have pain on insertion or afterward, but I think this is relatively rare.

Good luck!
