Someone said theres nothing to prevent gallstones once you start rocephin. Is that true? Or does Actigall prevent it 100%?

It's supposed to. My doc didn't believe in it lost my gallbladder to rocephin in 2005.

From my experience, nothing is 100% guaranteed to work. But that doesn't mean it isn't worth using.
I've been on Rocephin for 4 years (long story) and on Actigall that entire time. Next week I'll be getting my gall bladder out. So, did the Actigall help prolong how long I could stay on the Rocephin without gall bladder complications? I tend to think so. But there are other causes for gallstones unrelated to Rocephin, so who knows exactly why people end up having problems with their gall bladders?
My advice to anyone on Rocephin is to take the Actigall, it sure can't hurt, and it may even be helpful. I know it's not a short term fix (docs won't usually use it for treatment once you have gallstones) but over the time you're on the Rocephin, as a preventative measure, IMO, I think it's worth it.

NO way it's 100% .. it HELPS to protect the GB. No guarantees at all.

My advice after suffering numerous HORRIBLE gallbladder attacks from rocephin: Ask your dr to rx Actigall 3 times/day, if possible, instead of twice. Do REGUlAR Liver/Gallbladder Flushes---before you start and monthly during rocephin. If you start to get nausea, gallbladder pain, etc.---stop the rocephin IMMEDIATELY (even if temporarily), talk to your dr, and do Liver/Gallbladder Flushes or mini-flushes. Don't ignore the above symptoms!
If you do, you'll regret it, and may easily lose your gallbladder. Word to the wise. The attacks are not to be believed how painful and awful they are.

I would take the Actigal. I have heard that the stones from Rocephin are made of calcium and not fat like most gall stones. That is why some people think that the actigall doesn't help.

I would take Actigal. My daughter (17 at the time)developed gallstone month 3 of IV Rocephin. She was not on Actigal at the time and had monthly ultrasounds.
