Dr Alana Levine, pediatrician:

"80% present w/rash"
?!!

"Has to be attached for >36hrs"
?!!

"OK to leave a little bit of tick left embedded after you pull it out"
?!!

Only good thing: "check full body of kids everyday for ticks, including hidden places"

Grrrrr. We need to comment on this nonsense, yo!

Oh my gosh.....IDSA doctor alert.

This woman clearly thinks Lyme is no big deal and antibiotics will quickly get rid of Lyme no matter how long you've had it.

She was a horrible speaker. Almost sounded like she made stuff up as she went along.

I didn't see where you could leave comments. Lots and lots of false information.

You can leave a comment on their "Shout Out" board; in the middle of the page and to the right:

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/

(You can also send Dr Levine a message via her website: http://www.alannalevinemd.com/ )

This lady doesn't know what she's talking about. She even contradicted herself.

This is very irresponsible and dangerous to put out there for parents watching.

Isn't it true that if you wait for the rash to appear some damage has been done?

Especially dealing with childrens health, why wouldn't she advice parents that if they see that their child has been bitten by a tick to go to the Dr. and get them on a course of anitbiotics. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry?!

Dr Levine is simply spouting the unestablished, inaccurate, info that the IDSA docs quack about.
There *IS* no specific time frame that ticks need to be "on" you to contract Lyme.
Never WAS! Soooo many variables here.

(The 2 adult male ticks that got me were on me from ~11AM Friday to 7:30AM Saturday. What is that... <21 hours?
One was dug in Good, vertical, w/ it's little back feet sticking out. The other?... "Not as much", as Borat says.)

80% get the rash?? [Embarrassed]
WHO EVER CONFIRMED THAT number???

It's deeply discouraging that such "assuring" information is being disseminated thru major media outlets as 'Good Morning America'.

My guess is the IDSA is trying to spew their propaganda out as fast as they can before PBS airs Under Our Skin.

I suspect there will be a lot more IDSA tick talk in the media prior to May to try to undermine the documentary.

Remember GMA went through a re-org. I guess good journalism isn't what the station wanted.

Remember this video again from GMA, see if you can notice a difference:

Show them both, to someone who doesn't believe in conspiracy theories. [lol]

Oh just bloody wonderful. I really, really want to have these pukes bitten by ticks then withhold treatment for a year. Then let them sell their dreck about chronic lyme....pukes....
