My immune system is shot (thanks to LD?) (CVID). My head is stuffy and either one or both ears hurt - most all the time. I don't sneeze and don't have much coming out of my nose. What does come out is clear or opaque - not yellow or green. Can one have a sinus infection with minimal discharge - and that not being weird colors? Odd - I discovered when I take Ceftin my ears get better. Thoughts? TIA.

I had allergy testing last week because I assumed I was allergic to everything. Did skin pricking and hardly anything showed. I was stunned. I even did common foods that I assumed were giving problems because the sinus issues are just constant. The diagnosis is that I am reactive and that I produce 5-10 times more mucus than normal. Sometimes I turn green and later pneumonia but sometimes it is constant blowing with no cold or feeling of illness, no cough, no fever. Air particals send me off the most especially in my unairconditioned work building. It seems like stuff comes down from the roof with the blowers and that it all blows around dust. Perfumes make me sick but the doctor said he couldn't test for it. I work with mostly women. I am trying two new inhalers one to shrink the amount of mucus and one is like a nasonex. I also have a new allergy pill to try that is supposed to be like pure xyrtec.

Check out cpnhelp.org
Chlamydia Pneumonia is another infection, like Lyme, that becomes chronic.
I had a feeling of persistent stuffed up nose, sinuses and sore throat and chest. Despite this I never had to blow my nose or cough up anything.
N-Acetyl cysteine is an amino acid that can give a clue as to whether cpn is present. NAC causes a flu-like reaction....runny nose, cough etc. if cpn is there.

Maybe try Seagate's olive leaf extract nasal spray.

My dd who has Lyme/Bartonella (5 years undiagnosed, lyme treatment for last 10 weeks) had sinus issues that have gotten better since beginning Lyme treatment.
FOr the last year, she has had post nasal drip that would not stop, very phlegmy. She used Musinex every day twice and also did a Sinus Rinse every day at least twice and those things helped a lot.
She had previously been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep. (PNADAS) But quite honestly, the symptoms all over lap with Lyme symptoms and even though I know she has something autoimmune going on from her tests, I'm not sure if it is PANDAS or not.
But what I wanted to say is that she had major sinus and phlegm issues that have gotten better since she began a lyme protocol ten weeks ago, so I'm pretty sure it was LD related.

oh, and I meant to add, that she was diagnosed with allergies and having all that phlegm made her suseptible to sinus infections because her sinuses didn't drain well. The sinus rinse and musinex helped prevent them.

Hi susank, I can sympathize completely. About 6 months ago I was having similar symptoms (prior to my Lyme diagnosis). I was having sinusitis, pain around the eyes, stuffy nose, mild sore throats, watery eyes, severe intermittent chest pain and pain when breathing, chest/breathing pain and burning head pain with any scented or smelly environment, difficulty breathing with bouts of little asthma attacks. And so on Several different non LLMDs gave me different explanations go figure! At the end of it all I had to piece together several doctors diagnosis to find some relief, which is failure of the medical system in my opinion. Anyhow, it turns out that I have allergies and was living in an environment full of my triggers. I am allergic to dust mites, mold, ragweed, cat dander, mugwort sage and lambs quarters. I had had recent renovation to my home due to flooding and my body reacted SEVERELY to the mold and in my opinion the major cause was the new construction materials and finishings. I had to move out of my home and start detoxing which began the healing process. When I went on antibiotics the chemical sensitivity lessened in severity as well. I still have symptoms come and go as the Lyme waxes and wanes, but the direction had been forward.
I hope that is helpful, just to consider environmental causes!

I have the same ear/sinus symptoms.. My ears stay congested, ring 24/7, off balance etc.
This has been a problem for years and its misery.
I have tried everything seems nothing works. I may have a day or two without all the misery but far and few between. Had allergy test , no allergies.
In fact I just posted under medical.
No answer but sure can relate.

My daughter is on her third sinus infection this year.
She started to get spontaneous nose bleeds... no trauma, nose just started dripping blood like a faucet.
My son's sickness started with nosebleeds.
I had my house tested for mold. My numbers are off the charts for some very dangerous strands of mold.
