My 20 year old daughter has had lyme for 5 years, but only diagnosed a year ago. She's currently on biaxin, Doxcy, and Plaquinil. She gets a lot of muscle spasms throughout her body but lately she has had a lot of head issues. Sometimes she gets pressure in her head that brings tears to her eyes cause it hurts so bad. I can feel the spot of pressure and it's really hot. It will last anywhere from 5-15 minutes, then she gets a headache, then is extremly fatigued for 10-30 min.Sometimes can't even lift her head.
She also gets a lot of hot flashes but only on her face and hands. Anybody out there with these type symptoms and what has helped?

I never found relief, but I know the head pain you are talking about! I've had so many times where I have been down on the floor in tears unable to move my head it hurts so bad.
Hope someone can give you some ideas for her.. I'd like to see any as well!
I will pray for her tonight. Posted by ndo90 (Member # 24378) on :
Thank you Dawn2137 I reposted this on Shahbah's comment she posted entitled "Brain inflamation, how long?". I wondered if this was the same kind of symptom.

well, it depends, does the head pressure feel like cranial nerves inflammation? i guess so as muuscle spams would indicate nerve issues... in that case it is not really brain inflammation (as it may feel like...) one way of knowing it is: does she get shortness of breath before the headaches start?

Diamox can help some people with the bad head pressure. I've dealt with it for 3 years

lyme987, did you get relief from the head presure with diamox or did it just ease off after three years? i have tried a coupld of diuretcis but they did not touch the pain... i think if the pain is from the nerves-muscles, diamox would not help...

I also have these same symptoms. Mine lasts for days and feels more like shahbah noted: Like cranial nerve inflammation. Mainly because the muscles in my neck and head feel so tense and almost swollen or inflamed. Like the muscles are squeezing my brain.
I do neck stretches and put a hot pad on them to relax the muscles. This helps but doesn't take it completely away. Only laying down does, as it relaxes those muscles. I guess it depends on if its the muscles or from increased pressure in the brain (which I had from a medicine) The difference for me was that the latter felt like pressure pushing out on my skull rather than squeezing. If that makes sense.
