I was diagnosed in February 2011 after 2 months of noticeable symptoms (although in hindsight I was slipping for 6 months). I believe I was infected around May 2009. On Doxy, Zithro and Rifam. Oh, and my dog has it too (where I believe the tick I got came from), he's on Doxy.
Every normal minor ailment my wife and children have gets me thinking about Lyme. Has anyone had their family tested? Any thoughts on transmission, I know it is a debtated topic. Thanks, S

Yes. My teenager was CDC+, middle daughter not CDC+ but lyme specific bands and clinically diagnosed based on symptoms, and my youngest also CDC+.
Hubby is also clinically diagnosed with specific bands. So three out of five of us are CDC+. All are diagnosed.
My youngest two don't even know what a tick looks like.

Yep. Whole family of 4 with a whole lot of tick borne illnesses.
We never tested my husband through IGENEX, but we were part of an early research project with Neurosciences, Inc. He was positive for Lyme.
Clinical for everything else. My kids are congenital, matching western blots.

I had undiagnosed lyme for at least 10 years. Then, I was diagnosed and treated for 2 years with lousy treatment.
Then, I learned it could be sexually transmitted. I switched doctors, got good treatment and asked if my husband should be tested.
Lyme doc agreed to draw his blood and send it to Igenex. It was all negative but one + on some band that the doc felt was not significant. He had no symptoms of lyme.
He still has no symptoms. I completed my treatment 6 years ago. So, I would have to say that the test gave me peace of mind.
My husband has always been healthy. My lyme doc believes it is possible to sexually transmit the disease, easier male to female, but he thinks it only happens rarely. I'm glad.

It is not uncommon for entire families to have lyme/coinfections. This is primarily because you are exposed to the same environment, so if you and your dog have it, then it is very possible that others in your family could have it.
Another reason entire families have it is because of the similar genetic makeup...some people are more susceptible to becoming ill with chronic lyme due to various factors, one being the ability to detox properly. I feel that much of the population has been exposed to lyme but there is a huge range in how people present with symptoms. Some become totally debilitated and some can live virtually symptom free.
My entire family of 5 is infected, as well as our neighbors next door (family of 4). I feel we all caught it from tick bites, however my children may have gotten part of their infections congenitally since I was infected (unknowingly) when I was pregnant with them.

I'm so glad you posted this! I recently tested positive for lyme after a year of symptoms and mis-dagnosis'. Now I'm seeing symptoms in my children and wondering if it could be lyme. I was trying to convince myself I was just paranoid but now I'm thinking it's worth investigating or at least talking to my llmd about it. Thanks so to everyone for posting!

My hubby was tested but came back negative. didn't have any positive bands at all. He also has no symptoms.
I did recently get my son tested since I have my suspicions that he is dealing with lyme. Don't know the results yet though! But I can relate to your thinking.
I am almost positive my son's tests are going to come back as him having lyme and am glad I got the tests done. As for the hubby...he has no symptoms and I at least feel reassured that his test came back negative.

My wife was tested this winter using Igenex wb and she only had 2 bands with one + each that are not Lyme specific (I forget what #) and she has no symptoms. So we agree she most likely does not have Lyme. I was diagnosed 20+ years ago by a famous/infamous MD and treated w/ 14 days tetra and am currently cdc confirmed lyme and have active symtoms for 3 years. So we are not too concerned about our daughter but are always aware of the possibility. Interesting subject.
