Hi-I was dx with lyme in 6/10 and bartonella in 11/10. I am no longer on Doryx, but I am on Zithro for Bart. I was feeling great, but some symptoms are resurfacing. I was also considering elective surgery and wanted to know if this would have a negative impact in any way. I have an appt with my LLMD next week and will discuss this as well, but wanted some feedback from anyone who has gone through surgery with lyme. Thanks so much for your time and I wish everyone good health!

It can really throw you for a loop, believe me. Many of us had our Lyme thrown into high gear following surgery or pregnancy. Any kind of trauma to the body will allow the Lyme to get the upper hand.
You may want to ask your dr to put you on a combo drug so you can hit bart and Lyme at the same time since you are not feeling well.

could the surgery be put off until you are closer to the end of your lyme treatment?

I have had several surgeries since I was diagnosed with lyme and babesia. They really have not set me back much at all, no more than the disease itself.
I am an anesthetist and in my experience it often depends on the type of anesthetic you may require as well as the surgery.
Best to you!
