I had my appointment yesterday with a different Lyme doc and I am SO GLAD I went!
My other doctor has had me on 200 mg of doxy per day plus a bunch of supplements.
The new doctor seems MUCH more aggressive both in terms of investigation AND treatment.
Yesterday he drew blood for the following:
ANA and Rheumatoid Factor (first time ever) CD57 (first time) Quest co-infection panel (first time) CBC and other regular stuff
He said that if the Quest co-infection stuff comes back neg we will do Igenex. He thinks I have other co's in addition to the recently confirmed anaplasma.
Next time I come in he's going to take blood and do a viral panel too!
As for treatment, he's upping my dose to 300 mg of doxy (I'm small but he wants to work me up to 400 mg per day if I tolerate it), and adding flagyl.
I also had a chest x-ray which he said he does whenever someone has night sweats, and that was normal.
He seemed more concerned about my eye/vision problems than my other doc and wants to see what the LL neuro-oph says about that stuff after my appointment next month when I'm in PA.
So! All in all a much more productive visit.
He also listened to my heart, lungs, poked my abdomen, looked at my hands, etc -- stuff my other doctor never really did.
I am very very happy to have found what seems to be a better doctor. I don't think he knows as much about the holistic side of things, but I think I know enough about that stuff myself to take care of that end of it.
I hope I will finally start making some real progress now!

Onward and upward!
Sounds like your new doc is on the ball.
I'm getting a new viral panel at my next visit, too.
