This past week I've been in a serious flare, and my LLMD in Illinois ran some extensive testing to see what pathogen was causing my relapse. Turned out it was my mycoplasma pneu. We were working on getting that level down, but it sprang up again. I'm back on doxycycline. I was on ceftin all winter by choice though she had suggested I take doxy, but it was changing my teeth color and giving me dark pigment on my face.
I also take Lauricidin, too, which kills myco.
It's nice to know what devil is rearing it's head. This doc peels back the onion layers to find everything that's wrong with you.
Hopefully, I can return to work soon.

Sorry to hear I didn't know Lauricidin kills myco. I have some... I guess I need to start taking that and also giving to my youngest since we are both pos. for myco. Wish I'd known that earlier!

Myco is an important player in getting well according to my second LLMD. My first doc in Missouri didn't think it was.
However, for me personally, it certainly is. I felt more energy when my titers were lower.
Symptoms are pretty similar to Lyme. Neuro symptoms, burning skin, fatigue, and malaise.
I just started doxycycline today per my docs instructions. 200mg twice daily. I am to add freeze dried garlic, and watch the lauricidin so I don't herx too much.
Toxin removal includes lemon/lime fresh squeezed juice in water, activated charcoal for severe herxing.
Don't take dairy with doxy. Wait two hours before/after. Also, don't lie down for at least a half hour. I take doxy with food, although it's suggested to take it with a cracker.
Look up Dr. Nicholson's name and mycoplasma. He has studied it.

Some cases of mycoplasma can be chronic.
There have been reports of zith not being as effective against mycoplasma pneumonia.
I know several people with children that have it and their titers are not dropping at all while on zith.
Myco P has been a huge issue for my son. As his titers are dropping he is improving, but we still have a long way to go.
I think for some people this infection can cause a lot of problems and it is often over looked by Dr's or not taken seriously enough.

I'd definitely prefer Doxy to Zithro but if you can't take the Doxy...? Another option is MINOCYCLINE which is equally as effective at killing Myco as Doxy is!

Arggh! You're reminding me that I have this too, and have never targeted it, except accidentally when on doxy---which I could only tolerate at 200 mg/day for short periods of time before. I got daily migraines from the doxy. Now I'm on 300 mg IV doxy, but am getting the blasted daily migraines from the increased intracranial hypertension. Maybe this is another big reason why I am still doing so terribly, esp with the horrific fatigue.
What about sun sensitivity in the late spring and summer from the doxy?
I also had the darkening teeth with the doxy before---looks terrible!
I couldn't tolerate mino before---got extreme vertigo, drunk feeling within minutes of taking it. Could barely walk. Although that was with rifampin, too, which probably made it even worse. Maybe I need to revisit the mino when I have to go off the doxy for the summer, but that vertigo?!
At this rate, how will I ever get over all the many infections?! (Sorry didn't mean to high-jack the thread).

Sorry you have this too. I am tired of coughing up stuff from my lungs that no antibiotic or other med will clear (though I've never been put on doxy and only recently started treating for lyme). The myco has definitely worsened since starting to treat lyme, no idea why.

Lymetoo: Minocycline? lol. I don't understand if that's a question. Mino has been proven to be as effective as Doxy at treated several species of mycoplasma.
I did great with Doxycycline for several months but after an involuntary antibiotic break, I became too sick to resume it, and now like many here cannot take it due to the extreme herxing. I have mycoplasma as well and I can only hope the Zithro will help take care of things. Several bugs (including bartonella) can develop resistance to azithromycin if there are lapses in therapy, but I haven't had to stop yet!

I think because Doxy is the first choice, but they're basically the same drug, with the exception that mino has slightly more risks.

Common antibiotics such as Doxycycline, Azithromycin, Clarithromycin, Ciiprofloxacin, and Tetracycline are usually used to treat Mycoplasma pneumonia infection, typically requiring two to three weeks treatment, although long-term therapy is usually needed in cases of chronic illness (like Lyme disease). Unfortunately, reports have emerged, especially in Asia, showing that Mycoplasma pneumonia may be developing resistance to macrolides such as Azithromycin and Clarithromycin.

I'm trying the Byron White remedy A-Myco. It's been pretty strong for me, but some of the arthritis and inflammation has responded well to it.
Can't take antibiotics anymore. I was initially treated with Zithromax, which took care of the pneumonia-like symptoms. However, the arthritis and fatigue went nuts afterward. A-Myco has been helpful so far...

I was on 400mg Doxycycline for four months and it still wasn't enough. :\ It's pretty persistent, that infection. I've never tried A-Myco but thanks for the information!

What is A-Myco and where do you get it?
I've had darkness of the teeth and dark skin spots from doxy, too. That's why I stopped it a year ago. I'm back on it and herxing like crazy. I don't know when I'll return to work. I'm a crzed person.

MominTexas, what is your son taking that he sees a drop in titers? My body doesn't react to doxycycline anymore.
