This is a quote from the Bioresource Conference notes posted by Scott.

"Powassan virus is a factor that he feels is commonly overlooked and in one bio-resonance study, 60% of ticks were positive for powassan virus."

Does any lab test for this virus?

Does anyone know what the treatment is?

I had tested positive for it (IGENX) and my then LLMD didn't seem to be concerned. I am wondering about it now though...

My Md is giving me Byron Whites anti viral, suppose to be especially good for Powassan as well as other viruses.

It is something to be worried. Do searches on the net. Peeps die from it.

According to the following site, there are no commercially available tests but one can be requested through state public health laboratories for testing at CDC.

Never heard of this before. Looks like another thing I'll need to read up on!

Found a quote from a recent news article on the Powassan virus in Minnesota.

http://brainerddispatch.com/news/2011-06-07/first-two-parts-tick-borne-diseases-keep-climbing

"And just to add to the mix, a new tick-borne disease -- not detected in Minnesota before 2008 -- is here now. It's called the Powassan virus. Neitzel said the disease is somewhat related to West Nile virus in the way it invades the central nervous system with a rapid onset of headaches, high fever, stiff neck and disorientation. It acts on the body in a way that is similar to encepalitis or meningitis. There is no direct treatment other than supportive care until the virus passes.

Luckily, there have been just a few cases reported -- just six in the past two years statewide."
