I wanted to know if when you see results is based more on the number of infusions or just number of days after the first one.
I am getting them once a week, its been about 5 days since the first one and haven't seen any improvement. Would it take a few more infusions to usually see results or does it just take one to know if its working or not.
I get 45g.

Most say it's after a number of infusions. I had a loading dose of 2gm per KG, and have not had the next dose yet. No results yet that I can tell.

I think it takes a few infusions to see if things get better. You have low IG numbers? Curious what they are. I have been on lower dose of 10g every three weeks. Had numbers (IG) checked last week to see if they have improved - then assume will go to 20g. What brand do you get? I am an GammaGard liquid.

FWIW - my results for total IGG have improved after three infusions over two months - up from 509 to 735. I still don't really have the foggiest idea what IVIG really does/how it works. I believe I understand that it is used to prevent infections ie if you are subnormal you are more prone to getting infections. Have read others report that being subnormal causes fatigue/exhaustion - and that they feel IVIG helps with that. ??? But if one has a chronic illness ie bacterial, viral etc what does IVIG do? Kill existing organisms directly (I don't think so) or trigger one's own system to do some killing?

It took a couple of months for my husband to start seeing results.

My dd receives IVIG every four weeks. She usually improves right way and has a gradual decline during the next few weeks. The week before her next IVIG she has a return of fatigue and leg pain.
She receives IVIG for her immune issues NOT specifically for LD.
susanK-the healthy Ig's you receive from the immunoglobulin are supposed to fight off the bacteria/viral infections that your own "flawed" immune system is not able to do. They have a life span of approx 30 days hence the need for repeat IVIG's. Some people, like my dd, receive it every 3-4 weeks. Others have SubQ which is typically done weekly and keeps a more uniform number of healthy Ig's in your system at all times.
