I have been on Mepron, Malarone and Coartem. Could this symptom be something other than Babesia?

I m actually wondering the same because if it is only babesia then I need to get treated soon ! I keep asking my doc about the breathing probs and he really seems to think its all related to LD.

Does anyone know if babesia even exists in california ? Oh and have you ever heard of it not having high fevers with it? I ve had almost all the usual symptoms except that, in fact my temp is generally low than even normal.

First of all, yes, babesia is in California!

I think I only have Lyme and I have air hunger, so I think Lyme causes this symptom too.

thanks robin, it always baffled me cause it seems a key symptom of babs is high temps and I never had that...

I had low body temp with my Babesia.

I had no typical Babesia symptoms until I started treating for it. Then I got the air hunger, etc. I never got a fever, though I've had warm flashes with my recent relapse.

If you have any symptoms of Babesia, you should try a round of meds to see if you get die-off.

Really thanks Boxermom, I m gonna really hit my doc up about this. I do get the hot flashes from time to time, without fever

For me personally, it was also caused by yeast(candida). Got on diflucan and it cleared right up. Mine was also not going away completely with babs treatment.

I think it is related to Babesia most of the time. I didn't have a fever but get crazy hot flashes and 'day' sweats. Never got the night ones either.

Also, it could be candida like blinkie said. I think I've got that going on now too, hooray [bonk]

My doc thought my air hunger was babesia. Just finishing up my 2nd month of babs treatment. Turns out, my air hunger is from a vocal fold movement abnormality. My vocal folds are closing when I inhale instead of opening. I now am doing speech therapy to try and fix it.

From my research though, lyme can cause this issue because it messes with the nerves that control the movement. So mine is most likely lyme related, and not babesia.

Another issue that I also am struggling with is Hiatal Hernia and acid reflux. This can cause a lot of air hunger itself. Mine got really bad while treating Babs and I noticed that Mepron can cause acid reflux. I have a heavy feeling in my diaphragm that sounds A LOT like hiatal hernia.

Lots of things can cause air hunger! Babesia can, yes, but so can Lyme disease all on its own, and also anemia (which can be common depending on which co-infections you have, like bart or myco and yes, babesia). Also acid reflex can give that sensation.

Air hunger does not automatically mean babesia.
