I'm wondering if anyone could help me understand if these symptoms I seem to continue having are part of my Lyme --- reply is appreciated!
Trouble reading body language. Trouble 'getting it'... whenever someone is alluding to a point or making a subtle suggestion. Feeling 'cut off' or 'inhuman' regarding social subtleties.

Have you had these symptoms since childhood? Have you looked into Aspergers syndrome? I read on another board that some people do not get diagnosed until they become an adult.

Nahhh, I really didn't feel this way until I had Lyme (I think). Its like I have impulse issues or something... Like I recognize situations but am unable to behave "as I should".
I've read on asperbergers before and although it isn't too far off I think it is more severe.

yes..... detachment is not uncommon with Lyme. I have had spells of complete detachment from reality. Almost as if I was a different animal and not understanding how people communicate. Its pretty depressing. Many have said this is part of Lyme, including Doctors. I did have one jerk doc look at me like I was an idiot when I told him about it. Do you have a LLMD?

So lack of inhibition is then a common symptom of Lyme? I feel like that is a fair way of putting it.
Is this what people mean by detachment? I'm not sure if I relate to that or not.

There is a fair amount of evidence that lyme causes, or can cause, autism. For many adults with lyme, some of the symptoms that come on are similar to symptoms of autism -- difficulty with social cues and social understandings.
I've read some people with lyme talk about about how their difficulty with social cues and difficulty being around people increases when their lyme symptoms increase -- when they have a flare or something.
Know that this isn't you. Lyme is so complex. Be kind and gentle with yourself. I know it isn't easy.

As I asked in another post just now, does anyone know of any herbs, vitamins, or medications (antibiotics or otherwise) that can lessen (or even eliminate) this awful, awful, symptom?
I moved back in November, and I want to make friends, experience life, and...how can I put this...engage with the opposite sex again?!?

My son was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome because of these type of symptoms. However, he has never completely fit the profile and has never responded to the typical behavioral treatments. When I was researching some physical symptoms he began to have, I came across Lyme Disease. I remembered that he had been bitten by a tick a few months before these symptoms emerged. There are numerous articles on the ILADS website outlining research that links these and other psychiatric symptoms to Lyme Disease. I believe the Lyme is the cause of all of my son's issues.
If you weren't like this before Lyme then I would think it is a contributing factor.
