So I have heard that when doing lemon water it needs to be from fresh lemons not from the bottle you can buy at the store... Opinions????
On my bad days when my hands are weak, I know that it will be difficult for me to squeeze a lemon for my water.
Can I squeeze lemons in advance and store the juice in the fridge? Freezer?
Also, I would like to know how much lemon everyone uses in their water. One person has said they use a half a lemon in a glass.
Is there a suggested amount for the optimum detox?

Try to cut a piece of lemon and use your teeth to squeeze it into the cup.

Laura - I accidentally bought Meyer lemons once and they are MUCH easier to squeeze as they are so soft. They probably don't have the same level of detox effects as a regular lemon but it is something if squeezing is too difficult.
Also try to leave the lemon out on the counter for awhile before you squeeze it - if it's straight out of the fridge it will be much stiffer to squeeze.
Maybe invest in a citrus juicer? I have been meaning to shop around for once but keep forgetting and plus I have not much counter space as it is. I just have the hand held kind that has the strainer up top and you move the half of lemon side to side and then lift up the strainer.
I use half a lemon per 8 oz of water. kind of tart but I can tolerate it. And I use a straw to drink it so that the acid doesn't affect my teeth as much. Don't brush your teeth right after drinking lemon water as it will just rub in the acid even more. I drink just water after that before I brush my teeth.
My LLMD said that drinking lemon water is also good for herxes.

If you can, try pushing down and rolling the lemon on the counter to soften before cutting into it.

Regarding lemon juicers, I bought our Champion juicer with a citrus attachment (the machine can do apples, carrots, etc and citrus alike)...in nearly new condition for a good price, on Craigslist.

My mom bought a lemon juicer also, just a cheap one. it has worked wonders. we get double the amount of juice that we were getting before. I use real lemons and pink lemons from my aunts garden when they are in season.
For the rest of the year I get meyer lemon because it's all I can get where I live. I know they help me detoxify but I do not know whether they help more or less then regular lemons. My mom makes fresh lemon juice at night and puts it in a pitcher for me to drink in the day.
Using from frozen lemon juice by putting fresh lemon juice in ice trays also works and helps lemon juice stay fresh. I'm sure fresh lemons are better for you than juice that has been sitting in the fridge but I do not want to argue that with my mom . I hope this helps

Lemon juice is hard on tooth enamel, so you should drink it with a straw if your going to be drinking a lot of it.

I just use a regular blender... cut off only the thick ends, cut into quarters leaving the skin on, and throw in a few at a time with adding good quality water. Then pour the mash thru a fine mesh stainer. You'll get a good yeild with lots of good stuff from the peels. I count 1/2 lemon per 16 oz water bottle, and make up a batch for the week to take to work.

I press two lemons for two glasses in the morning and same in the afternoon.
I use ice,a bit of water, the juice and then a bit of organic apple juice.
I sometimes also add vitamin C powder from vitacost.
I like sour and spicy.
As a child I learned that lemons should not stand longer than ten minutes,then the vitamin C is less.

I like the idea of a blender. It is easier than getting the juicer out and you go get the juice of the rind.

Let the lemon come to room temperature first. Roll the lemon on the cutting board while pressing with your hand. This will release more juice. Rachael Ray suggests briefly microwaving, but it depends on how you feel about microwave ovens.

I squeeze half a lime or lyme, add Truvia (stevia sweetner) and drink through a straw to protect tooth enamel.

I have always loved "sour."
When I was a child, I would peel lemons, like an orange, and eat them!
My dentist put an end to that. He told my mom only once a month or I would ruin the enamel on my teeth. I did have the same worries since drinking lemon juice now. I will definitely purchase some straws.
