I just read Dr. B's literature on levaquin and it says three or more months if very ill with bart.
We are on Rifampin and Biaxin/Zith not levaquin. I am not sure when I should be expecting to see some improvement and what the avg time frame is to successfully treat with these meds.
Any thoughts appreciated-

Hi 2roads. I was very ill with bartonella being a major role. (I also have Lyme, and Mycoplasma, both of which are also treated with Rifampin + Zithro.) I was 95% bedbound, otherwise in a wheelchair, and on supplemental oxygen. After four months on Rifampin (two of those also on Zithro), I am now "just" housebound, out of wheelchair, and I was able to give back the oxygen concentrator. My bart flares are not gone, but are very mild in comparison to what they used to be. I was on 600mg for two of those months when I saw the most improvement. I'm on half that dosage now, still improving but at a slower pace. I've always heard the minimum for Rifampin is six months.

In my experience, 2 to 3 months with gradual improvement.

Wow! You have really been through it Little Olive. You are a very strong person.
I am glad you are responding and getting better. Six month minimum. I guess that gives me some hope even though it's a long time. So, it is longer then Levaquin time frame.
Hopefully it won't take any more then that. We are not at 2-3 month period yet Joysie, but I look forward to seing that improvement. I see some, but not what I had hoped for. Hence these questions.
Thanks to both of you for a reply.
