Even then it'll still take 6+ more months to get a price break. I doubt many manufacturers will produce it as I doubt it has high demand.

Thanks seek. That is just my luck. When I don't need it any more, the price will plummet.
But Imetrex is now generic and I use it for the babesia etc headaches. I used to pay $24 for one pill. Now I get 9 pills for that price. Before the drop I was buying it from India.
I wish India would make a generic brand. They need malaria drugs in the third world countries. Can't believe how expensive Mepron is.

Mepron doesn't go generic any time soon, but Malarone has been approved to go generic later this year.

It used to be that the timeline was 7 yrs.. HA!! not any more!
Mepron has been around for longer than 10 yrs that I know of .. could be way longer than that.

From what I found online, the first patent for Mepron was in 1995!
Obviously it is a very profitable drug. But I also read the patent ran out in some countries already and wonder why none of them are producing a generic form.

I thought they were migraines for a long time and imitrex helped get rid of them. But instead of settling behind one eye, which is typical of migraine, they are behind both eyes. Occasionally I have stabbing sensations.
I do not allow the headaches to get bad before taking imitrex because if I do, they are much harder to get rid of. I don't remember pain very well and it has been a long time since I had a bad one - but when they are bad I am sensitive to light and noise.
I would encourage anyone to try imitrex at the very first sign of a headache to see if it helps. It has been a lifesaver for me. Before diagnosis I was taking imitrex everyday and that was also before it became generic. I bought it from India.
Now I still buy 100mg tablets and only have to take about a third of one to get rid of a headache. They are about $3 each, locally, so getting rid of the pain costs about $1. I do not get many headaches now.

Imitrex saved my butt a few hundred times over the past 20 yrs! Due to successful babesia (&Lyme) treatment, I no longer have to use it. WHEW!!!

Those headaches would take my day away. The pain was so awful. I couldn't have any light or noise. It was always behind my right eye. Even my right temple hurt if you pushed it in. I had bad headaches as a kid and they just got worse as the years went by. Luckily only one or two a month. I was prescribed Imitrex but I didn't like them, can't remember why.
I used to take Motrin like they were M&M's. 4 at a time. I would add Claritan D to be able to breath. Before lyme treatment, this combo was the only saving grace I had.
Scary and painful stuff. It doesn't have to be that way either. Crazy...

I started getting migraines when I was 12. I would always be sick in bed three days and six if it moved to the other side of my head. The pain made me nauseous. Any noise or light was excruciating.
There are other things that mess us up. I was given radiation to shrink my adnoids when I was five and I believe that is what messed me up. It was equivalent to 20,000 dental x-rays. I also had insomnia, extreme fatigue with dark circles under my eyes and a gray parlor to my skin.
I have been the lifelong victim of medical idiots.
