My daughter's bloodwork came back that she has low t4 on her thyroid panel.

This would make sense because she has been having symptoms of hypothyroidism. The doctor called her in Armour Thyroid because he likes to take as much of a "natural" approach to things as he can.

I am normally in agreement with that, and I am not interested in her going on Synthyroid after talking with some people who have been on it.

When I got the prescription, I read where it is make from a pig's thyroid. My husband and I are just not comfortable with her taking this as we don't eat pork.

Is there anybody out there who can tell me if their is ANYTHING out there that we can substitute for the Armour that would work just as well?

If we can't find a substitute we will give it to her but we are hoping that someone knows of something else.

The only other thing is synthroid or similar brands, unithroid, tirosint, levoxyl, etc. All Armour alternatives are made from pork, to the best of my knowledge.

If her T3 isn't low, I'm not sure if there is a point to Armour, to be honest. Some people do better with T4 only, some with T3/T4 (synthetic or natural), but in the latter case, I'd think it'd only help if one's thyroid is in bad shape and can't make T3 on its own.
