No insurance co. will cover meds purchased outside the country unless it is an emergency, your policy specifically says it will cover international medical care, and the meds are prescribed by a doctor.

I don't recommend doing this. I was not aware that abx were available from Canada without a prescription; all the reputable pharmacies I know of in Canada require a prescription, and I would question the legetimacy of any pharmacy there who does not require one.

Many use veterinary grade meds which are pharmacy grade and high quality and cheap
( Some can be purchased at amazon ) .

Also , 4corners Pharmacy is known to be very relaible ( New Zealand ) . There are MANY vet supply places that require no script . 4 Corners does not on most meds.
I would NEVER attempt pain meds without a script . I know many who have safely ordered vet meds and overseas pharmacy .

I haven't heard of any reputable pharmacy in Canada that doesn't need a perscription.

There are some good online pharms out there (well, one that I've used with 100% reliability) for some of the more basic abx. The one I generally use is not Canadian though.

From what I've read, it's OK to purchase 3 mos. of meds without a script providing the med in question is not controlled or restricted in some way.

Of course, you will have to pay in full but it's a good strategy when you need to self-treat.

I have seen a number of these canadian websites that say you don't need a script for common abx ect.

Some of them have great websites and look legitimate. Canadian pharmacies are often supplied by US manufacturers for many types of meds.

As to whether these online pharmacies are the real deal.......not a clue. Being a skeptic by nature I would be hesitant, although I can understand the desperation of those with nowhere else to turn.

The real shame of this is that there are so many who either can't afford to buy what they need in the US or have fallen through the cracks and are left with no other option than to seek meds elsewhere.

This not only applies to us lymies but virtually every other chronic condition out there. How does someone living in the richest, most powerful nation on earth get to a point where they have to choose between eating for the week OR buying their medications.

Sorry, I don't normally go on rants but this really aggravates the h**l out of me if you couldn't tell.

I agree it is infuriating that we can't get affordable medicine. I used to buy imitrex from India because it cost me $24 a pill and my insurance doesn't cover anything. Now that it is generic, I can get 9 pills for that price. I don't remember the name of the pharmacy.

I also ordered roxithromycin online without a prescription. It is a macrolide that crosses the blood brain barrier and you cannot get in the US.

When I wanted Mepron the only place I could find it was canadadrugs.com and I did need a prescription but ordering online saved $400. I just hope it is as good. Mepron is often conterfeited and you would sure hate to waste hundreds/thousands of dollars on yellow paint that does not work.

I also ordered azithromycin online from India and it was good. Again I don't remember the pharmacy.

Sometimes we just can't afford to pay the prices we have to pay in this county. I have already spent over 9 thousand dollars on Mepron alone and I don't see an end in sight. I will order Malarone from Canada.

I will check out the New Zealand pharmacy. That is good to know. I believe mepron is off patent in NZ so maybe they will sell it generic before we get it here.
