This looks promising.

"Can species other than bacteria, virus or fungus be responsible for these chronic problems found in Lyme patients? It has been proposed that certain parasites could also be a factor in Lyme disease. European doctors have already incorporated Ivermectin, an antihelminth drug, into their Lyme disease protocol with surprising success. Ivermectin is well known for its effectiveness against filarial nematode infections and is often used by veterinarians to eradicate parasitic infections. (3)"

Ivermectin is one of the wormers I use on my horses. My LLMD had me take the cattle form (liquid for IM injections except I drew it up then took it orally). It did nothing for me.

However, herbal wormers such as black walnut, wormwood, etc knocked me for a loop. So I knew it was working. I just can't tolerate the herxes.

My daughter is on it now at a pretty high dosage of 6mg four times daily for 2 weeks. She's 50 lbs. She seems to be doing very well for about the past week or so (she's been on it for 10 days now). Anxiety seems much less and she is much more pleasant all around (less screaming at me is always welcome).

My daughter also took Ivermectin for 2 weeks. She is a 17 year old and her doses were much higher. I think they were 48 mg a day.

She tolerated it just fine..not one problem.

Who are those "european doctors"? Anyone else on this board tried Ivermectin?

Yes. I tried it a short time ago and will probably be back on again very soon. I had a tough time with it after I was on it for about a week (seemed like bad die off/herx).

LLMD prescribed 4 tablets per day along with some Pyrantel Pamoate (2 doses per day). I started out trying to do the full dose but quickly realized I should start more slowly.

So I did 2 ivermectin a day with 1 dose of pamoate. I tolerated it ok for about a week or so, but then needed to back down. I experienced quite a flare up of yeast at the same time.

The herx/die off included intermittent stabbing pain in my head, more fatigue, even more trouble sleeping than usual, some loss of appetite, increased brain fog, and some crying jags.

Once the herx type reaction from ivermectin subsided, I felt better..until the yeast took me down. For the moment I am taking Nystatin 4x per day for a couple weeks as well as Byron White A-FNG to help knock it back down.

From what I have heard/read, ivermectin can be very useful for some patients. I will likely finish the course of it that was prescribed and then will be on to a another med for parasites.
