How long is a normal duck appt last, seeing a gp? My first visit was about 40 mins. ever since then 15 mins. I even had one where I arrived at 12:15 in exam room, met with the duck, explained my symptoms for the 5th time, went accross hall, had blood drawn and did the cup thing. I walked out of the lab and looked at the clock it was 12:30. No Joke. So I am curious if this is normal treatment for people with lousy insurance?

Do you have an LLMD? Why are you seeing a duck at all?

usually 10-15 min .. that is why LLMD's are really a bargain

Not llmd, I cant afford one yet. I am seeing what my insurance will do. So most drs only see patients for 15 minutes. I know my insurance pays 250 a visit. thats awfully good money. For being a duck.

I just met with a doc with took my insurance that knows lyme well. Wrote page after page, told him I didn't know what to do after you've exhaused all avenues. Gave him a list of my docs, copy of pos. tests, mri, spects and heart stuff. Mitral valve went away after i started iv. Maybe God?

My new insurance is horrible, I have 3 or 4 prescriptions denied by them and they wont even let me pay for them myself, all my prescriptions are ordered on computer. I guess my question is, is it normal for a basic doctor to only spend 15 mins with a person who is extremely ill having the same symptoms for 7 months? I just think 15 mins every time is a joke,You cant find the answer in that amt of time.No particular disease lyme or otherwise. 15 mins to diagnose, I think is rediculous, No wonder she couldnt figure it out. I feel like a cow at the slaughter house, quick and move onto the next one.

I can tell... ha ha I feel for you, being in the dark for that one LLMD we all wish was just around the corner. Keep searching, hunting if you may (: you are stubborn enough to get this done, you are surrounded by many assets in the world of LYME... even at your home, and friends / the vet is still of interest to me, i don't know why either ? In my experience, I have never sat with a "duck" for more than 15 minutes. Regular Md's are basically drug dealers in my eyes. one MD I was seeing early on in my Lyme treatment had a drug rep actually interrupt my appt to push more crap on him. I find the whole thing disgraceful. He was a real quack, but he was actually the guy that tested me and found the lyme, so at least he was working.
Years back, when I first started complaining of chest pains and clogged ears, another MD asked me if I was a cocaine user.....- "1st of all - NO. 2nd of all - NONE OF YOUR #$%! business!!!!" Then he offered me some xanax, percocets and other addicitive pain killers. I wanted to know WHY I was in so much pain, not how to get stoned....quack quack.
Md's let my mother take a risky drug for an autoimmune disorder, which was known to cause lymphoma, and scratched their heads when she died of lymphoma. Triple Quack.....
I don't think I will ever go to a regular MD ever again. I cannot think of one that has done more than help me get rid of a sinus infection with drugs I could have prescribed to myself. Quack quackity quack quack

Are you an angus or a hereford? Im a longhorn. Freaking ducks. At least yours gave you a decent test. Mine just gave me an elisa and because it was negative, she wont do western blot. She even had a friend who had it. She knew nothing about it.duck I have been telling her i am depressed over this for some time, last time I was in there I told her I was getting severely depressed . Her answer was I know you are. that was it? sorry ranting again

actually at my reg MD i have a 20 min waiting the waiting room i have a 10 min wait in the office. the nurse comes in and gets status, then 10 min later my MD comes in and reviews the status then leaves, total 5 mins returns w/prescription or lab updates. and says he'll see me in 33 days. another 5 min $240.00 for 10 min of devine healing Posted by lymeboy (Member # 24769) on :
I was lucky enough to test pos with the Elisa, since then I have had numerous testes, half of which have been negative. It's the luck of the draw. Do yourself a favor and leave your MD. get to a LLMD fast. ask for a sliding scale, or maybe someone in a local support group could point you in the direction of a LLMD that takes insurance. They are out there, just hard to find.

Will your insurance pay for chiropractors? Many chiropractors will order a lyme test for you. They probably wouldn't know enough to treat you, but at least you could get a Western Blot test and go from there.
I would of course call around first to find one who would order the test. Just ask the receptionist or ask to speak to a nurse if there is one. You might luck out.
I would also ask at any health food stores for leads on docs who might be more helpful. The clerks hear a lot from their customers.
