I am on month 3 of treating Babesia. The last 4 days I have had the WORST fatigue I've ever had from this illness. I feel so weak and even when lying down I don't move because thats how fatigued I feel.
I just saw my LLMd yesterday and she couldn't figure out why. Im just wondering if anyone has had this from a Babesia herx or if something else is going on. I can barely walk around the house, where last week I was cleaning all day.
It's really bad and Im getting worried. Is it Babs herx or another infection taking over?
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Sounds like my babs herxes. I think sometimes it takes awhile for the bad herxes to settle in. I didn't have bad ones when first beginning treatment.
My babs herxes were just as you describe. I could barely get out of bed.
Do what you can to detox.

Thank you Lymetoo! I was getting really scared, that fear sets in when you become immobile and I start thinking its the end. Ive had a lot of fear and depression with Babs so that doesn't help matters. Cant stop crying and thinking this is the end.
I took an epsom salt bath. I guess I should hit the lemon water. I just don't feel relief from that usually. I bought apple pectin fiber but have yet to try that. Im afraid of everything these days!

I have this kind of fatigue on-and-off. Sometimes it's related to a herx and sometimes it's the various infections.
Posted by Jamers (Member # 28016) on :
Kim-do you feel weakness with the fatigue? Can you explain yours?
Mine is like I don't want to move because I am just so weak and tired. It lasts all day and doesn't get better with sleep.

My LLMD allowed me to back off the meds briefly when herxing really hard. Then you KNOW if it's a herx or not .. for sure.

This is a CLASSIC Babs herx! Do your detox. If you can tolerate the herx, you will make tremendous progress.
Posted by Jamers (Member # 28016) on :
Thank you both. I am backing down on my Mepron this week. Im only at 1 tsp and my blood levels show that to be enough.
Boxermom- I hope I make it out of this one alive, the fatigue and weakness is unbearable. I went from barely any symptoms to full blown in 3 months. I really hope this is a herx and I make progress otherwise I am just getting progressively worse.
Posted by Jamers (Member # 28016) on :
How long can this last?
Posted by BoxerMom (Member # 25251) on :
This happened to me, too. I got much sicker during my first year of treatment. But I was herxing all the way, so I just went with it. I made excellent progress.
Don't herx beyond what you can tolerate, but try not to be too scared of it, either.
I herxed for a whole year for Babesia. Severity was up and down. But I was infected for 18 years before my diagnosis.
Everyone has their own timeline.
Posted by Jamers (Member # 28016) on :
Thanks Boxermom. That helps take the fear out of getting worse.
I am supposed to start Bactrim and A-Bab but have to wait till this passes. I know those 2 will kick my butt.
I think I was infected for about 5 years but have only had lyme symptoms for 2. I hope it doesn't take a full year. I pray that I just get better, this disease is tough on my sanity.

Jamers, herxing was a everyday crisis when I was on abx from 7/99-5/03. Then when I started using rife it was a everyday occurance too for the first year.
But at least with rife I was in control. I only rifed every 10-14 days and was able to wait until the dead toxins cleared out before I had to start process all over again.
But I also did tons of supps, tons of vitamins, green detox drinks, major detox protocols. Everything I took was another thing to deal with including stuff that was suppose to be good for you.
My body could only detox sooooooo slow. I couldn't throw everything for detox at it, because I would get ill and more ill just from trying to detox.
What is sanity Jamers?
Pam
Oh yeah, I learned when my body screamed fatigue it meant......rest you fool. Really rest and take care of you.
Patience is a virute. You must learn and practice that one. It will help you alot.

Sadly, a long time.

What is patience Pam?
I haven't been detoxing like I should. Lemon water doesnt help but I do take Vit. C and Magnesium. And starting apple pectin fiber. Anything that works really well???
that was a rough 5 days!! I was scared, but I backed off last night like Lymetoo recommended and feel much better today, except for this headache. so it was a herx!
Thank you all for getting me through this one. I really needed the support!

Headaches I found I had two different types of headaches.
One was caused by toxins....dead bugs, not having good flowing lymph nodes and being toxic toxic toxic from meds and things not flowing like it's intended. You must do detox. For what it's worth IMHO lemon water is lemonade. Drink water without lemons. Make good water your drink of choice.
I found thru a chiro muscle testing voodoo doc that drinking a gallon of distilled water a day for 2-4 days during very hard toxic periods can help clean out the toxins. Yes distilled water can and will remove good things such as electrolytes. Rebuild your electrolyes after using distilled water.
Go back to good water and drink water according to your body weight=ounces you need a day. 1/2 your weight in water=ounces a day.
Second type headache I experienced is inflammation. When inflmmation in my body is high, it's also high in my head, so comes the inflammation type headaches.
what do you do for inflammation in your knees, elbows, hands, feet?
Do not try to be brave guy and suffer thru hard periods without doing really good stuff for your body and organs.
When my liver was ticked off it would tick off my whole body. Be kind to your liver, kidneys, colon. Don't forget the largest organ in the body, your skin!!!!

Thanks Pam. I will be getting some distilled water pronto!
My headaches seem to be mainly inflammation. I can feel the muscles in my neck, back, head, and jaw tighten. The stay really stiff. I get these bad in my neck. Lately with the babs I get it all over.
I was told to take some systemic enzymes for inflammation so I just bought those. I also take milk thistle for my liver which I hope is enough support. And I do take epsom baths but find that gives me "woman yeast infections" if I take too many. Not fun but they really help so theres a trade off. I never know if its toxins or the infection causing the inflammation. I guess both.
Last month I avoided all gluten and dairy and felt a lot less inflammation. I know I should be doing it but its hard sometimes.
Posted by map1131 (Member # 2022) on :
I never get "woman yeast infections from my detox baths. Make sure you are using a clean tub. Use baking soda to clean your tub.
Easy and white. I use no other cleaning aids/chemicals in my tub that I detox in. What are you using in your detox baths?
If you are sharing tub with others, you should always clean it before you get into the tub. Just a thought.
Lyme loves the neck. Local hang out. I'm huring in the neck right now which does send inflammation into my head.
I use essential oils for neck pain. Pure essential oils that I know work for me without diluting in carrier oils. Iburophen doesn't touch the neck pain.
Last night I did some lyme freqs therefore lyme seems a little ticked off this evening. Too bad suckers!!!!!
I really don't believe I'm gluten and dairy sensitive. But Lymetoo thinks so.
Lymetoo thinks the diet helps. I haven't gone there either. She a pretty smart cookie, but don't tell her I said that. Ok?
I'm very aware of what I eat. I've lost 15 lbs in 7 weeks by eating healthier and doing one Visalus shake a day 4-5 days a week.
I actually crave good healthier foods now. Don't forget your minerals/electrolytes to replace if distilled water takes the good stuff with the bad.

Yes I am super duper tired on Babs treatment. I have to cut back or I can't function at work.
Funny thing is that I didn't have that much fatigue before treating this illness.
I have never had a positive test for this but I sense that I have it due to pressure at the crown of my head and inability to think.
I'm guessing this is a herx.
Boxermom and Maps - did you have severe problems with cognition. This is by far my worst symptom.
Posted by map1131 (Member # 2022) on :
I got lost in my cubicle at work. I forgot how to do tasks that I'd been doing for years and years.
It was scarey. I couldn't cut back at work....I was expected to get the job done. So I worked from6-7 am to 6pm and came home and worked from home. Worked Sat & Sun to try to catch up.
It didn't matter how much I worked, I was lost.

Pam-Does lavender, peppermint, or tea tree oil work for the neck pain? I have those 3 at home. I only put epsom salts in my bath so far. Last night I added in hydrogen peroxide thinking it may help with the yeast infections. I think mine is from the change in PH from the water.
I know I need to eat healthier for sure. Somedays Im just so tired I eat crap so I don't have to prepare anything.
Haley-I was always fatigued when I first got sick so I knew I must have Babesia. It got better over the last year though and once I started treating I feel back to square one. Crushing fatigue. I sleep 10 hours like a rock and then wake up and want to lie back down. I wish I could work but there is no way with this fatigue.
The cognition problems for me were from Lyme. I treated for 3 months for lyme in the beginning and I could think normally again!

Hello All! I have been going through "Herxing" these past few weeks I feel worse and worse and very fatigued. It is so hard to get out of bed most days when I go though "herxing" Because of lyme disease i have had so many weird symptoms and one of the symptoms is the one that map1131 (Pam) had stated in her post.
"Lyme loves the neck. Local hang out. I'm huring in the neck right now which does send inflammation into my head."
Thank You Pam for posting that interesting fact! I never knew that and all this time I thought that there must be something wrong with me(in my head) since I do receive weekly chiropractic adjustments. Not even those help the stiff pain I feel in my neck. So THANK THANK YOU!!!!! for posting that here! You just made my night:) All of the other posts were very helpful too! Thank You Everyone:) Have a good night all:)

I have been on lyme treatment for a month. I had scheduled to return to work today and am so sorry I did..although chasing the kids around all summer is equally stressful.
I feel really bad. I have a headache and it will not go away. I have taken advil twice today...no dent.
I have been on a strict diet of nuts, seeds, protein, veggies and very little fruits. I haven't really lost weight. I did feel better last week but now I feel awful again. I wish I had time to rest but with three small kids, sports, and a job it's not that easy. Is this herxing? I just don't know what to expect from herxing or if I should call my llnd to ask for an opninion about the headaches.
How do you detox? I don't think we have crossed that bridge yet...I felt great when I went in last week. In fact, she gave me a B12 injection and that is when I started to feel badly. That was a week ago.

Tea tree might work for you. It has many anti-bac, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory. So try it. I do it straight up.
But I've done patch test on myself. I've never negatively reacted to an essential oil. My oil book says peppermint is good for arthritis, back pain so try it too.
Lavender is good for tension. Skin problems, headaches (massage into temples), you could try the neck and pain areas.
Everyone is different. Do not go mixing different oils together and think more is better. You should do patch test first to make sure it agrees with your skin.
Do one oil at a time. Buy a book on essential oils. Look for used book at Goodwill or Salvation Army stores. Try your local library. Get to know your oils. Web searches also would be helpful.
I spent 8.95 on my paperback book and I refer to it often for many things. Some oils don't mix well. Some you can't have on skin and go out into the sun.
I use White Flower Analgesic Oil alot for knees, neck and joint pain. It's like pain relief to the spot. It takes me massaging and rubbing and rubbing for a good 15 minutes.
Knowing some pressure points in the body helps to. White Flower I use is from Shanghai, China. There are imitations, ask for the best at healthfood store. Tiger Balm is another pain reliever ointment, imitations on that too.
You need to work stuff in and massage. Learning to massage yourself comes with having great massage medical healers in your life.

I had extreme fatigue when I started Mepron. I walked a few steps and then had to sit down to rest and catch my breath. It began to improve in a month but I still had episodes of it. It was frustrating as I did not understand the cycles of babesia - still don't. It is more frequent than Bb.

@pme... you said "I feel really bad. I have a headache and it will not go away. I have taken advil twice today...no dent."
I get that same problem. Chiropractic adjustments don't help and Tylenol doesn't either (I'm allergic to Advil, so I can't take that). The only thing that seems to help this kind of headache for me when I get it is to eat a banana. I know, I know, they are high in sugar, but when you've been laid up for days, in the dark, with ear plugs in for the noise, I'll eat that banana and feel better within a couple of hours.
