Hi,

I am getting a picc for Rocephin, but my doctor contracts through a pharmacy company which requires that I pay about $500 a week once my insurance runs out. Does anyone know of a doctor that will allow me to get the picc and rocephin through infuserve or any other cheaper service? I'm dying and I need it...

Thanks,
Hause.

Have you tried to explain your situation to the doctor? That you cannot afford treatment at the price quoted? That you might be able to continue the treatment if you were able to use another pharmacy such as Infuserve? I hope that your doctor will be understanding and willing to work with you.

He says it is a statue / legal limitation... he's seeming unwilling to budget. How did other people become available to use infuserve? This sucks... its hard not to think about ending it all some days. I don't really mean that I think.

Hi,

Just b/c your Dr is contracted through them doesn't mean you have to use them. You can ask for the prescriptions and price shop. $500/week for Rocephin sounds steep. Now if it was for Invanz or Rifampin then that would be a bargain. So is the $500/week for any and all drug or just for Rocephin??

Just Rocephin. What can I expect when starting Rocephin? Fatigue? I'm not sure how it'll go.

My LLMD put me on Invanz and not Rocephin. She said too many of her patients lost their gallbladders even w/ Actigall, so I don't have any experience with Rocephin. I am handling Invanz very well (first week was rough w/ nausea and wooziness). But Invanz is very expensive. Cash price is $3900/month!

Sounds like your doc may be requiring a nursing service as well as the meds? InfuServe and others like it only ship the meds, for all else you're on your own. Cheapest way to get meds is in the vials, rather than premixed, from a regular pharmacy. More info on saving money on meds in the free ebook at http://InfusingForLymies.com.
