Malarone, mepron, biaxin and amoxy, plus high dose ART 4 days week.
I am feeling better-I have stopped losing weight, no longer throwing up every morning. I relpased 4 months ago-doing much better but I've never been on this much meds before.
Need some reassurance from those who have been there! Do we really need to take this much stuff?
Last time I went from really sick to remission going low and slow. New LLMD feels I never hit everything hard enough which is why I relpased.

Why Malarone and Mepron together? Interesting. Not bad, just interesting. I'm surprised you're not on Probenecid to keep the amoxy in the system longer ....

My LLMD believes in high dose to kill babesia. I do better on malarone, but because of the other ingredient we decided to combine the 2 to get the required amount of atovaquone without too much of the proguanil.

I know, it sucks, but I've been on most of those all at once, too. And don't get me started on what all the pills the herbalist gave me. don't be suprised if they keep you on meds for a while after you feel 100%. My doc had me take meds for a year after I felt better.
The good news is that it sounds like it's working if you're starting to feel better.

Stick with it, Beths. I've been on programs like that for 3+ years now.
My current is Tindamax/Zith/Mepron/Malarone. Herxing, yes, but also feeling better.
I also plan to treat for several months beyond symptom resolution.

I'm on IV Invanz, adding Zithromax IV monday and Tinidazole oral. In a few weeks we will be adding Flagyl (which means I might get to stop Tinidazole) and Rifampin.
So I will be on 3-4 IV meds at one time or another (we'll be pulsing some). But still that's a lot of high doses of antibiotics. I am hoping to kill the bugs hard and fast and be done with it. We will see. So like you I'm scared too! Pray that it will work for all of us!
