My husband has been sick for 5 years. Was always an occasional social drinker and used to be very, very funny when he drank, loosened up and had a good time!
Well those days are long gone, no more drinking - AT ALL. He has tried to have a couple here and there but he pays for it big time for days.
He wished he could even have a glass of wine or 2 with dinner but he just absolutely cannot tolerate it.

I don't know about you, but zith alone is not going to make you feel better. Are you just beginning treatment?

big lenny, IMO that's a TBI. Don't know if it's bartonella or babesia for sure.
But from my experience sounds like some bacteria has found a local hangout. Maybe because it is a weak are in your body? From jaw being out of line?
Chiro? straighten the jaw line. Might be from cavitations or root canal. Dead area in the jaw and if I was a bacteria, I hang out in a dead area of the body too.
No blood, no oxygen. Abx isn't able to get to it. Immune system can't seem to find any bad guys anymore.
I can see where alcohol would be tempting to dull the pain. I had a few glasses of wine Sat night mixed with more Sprite than wine. I was enjoying myself for a short period.
Then the wine wore off and I hadn't done any pain or inflammation meds since early afternoon Sat. At 11 pm I was really behind the pain.
Wine wore off and no meds.....I felt every bone and muscle in my body. I couldn't get to sleep till after 2 am because my body was on full alert.
Wine, Sprite, cheese and breads and no meds made for 3 hrs of he!! Being social is also very taxing on the body. Sunday I just wanted to collapse from doing life on Sat. I felt like death. Not much better today. Darn it!!!
That's why I don't drink. It's not worth it.
Sometimes doing life is just more than an ill body can bare????

Ear aches, neck and throat pain point to Babesia for me.
Yeah, drinking can be extremely hard on us. Most of us can't drink at all.
Are you sure you're receiving enough treatment?

For me, even the SMELL of alcohol makes me ill for hours, so yeah, alcohol + Lyme/coinfections = bad news...

Thanks boxer, just what I need is another sx that points to babs. It is what it is.

onbam... beers?? I did a double take on that!!!! Posted by elkielover80 (Member # 28368) on :
Alcohol suppresses the immune system. So it would make sense to me that you'd feel like crap after drinking. Especially if the immune system is compromised to begin with.
Have your tried detoxing at all?
I had a little too much champaigne at my brothers wedding last weekend. It was so nice to let loose and have fun, good for my spirits, but not so good for my body.
I pulled out all my detox tricks (charcoal, green clay, water, water, water, detox bath) and I increased my supplements to support liver, immune and lymph functions.
A lot of work to avoid a hang-over but it was well worth it! I made the mistake of having a "beverage" when I first started treatment and I hurt for days. It was a week long hangover after just a couple drinks.
I know how you feel as do so many people here. I'm only 31 and feel like a bystander watching everyone around me enjoy life. I saw someone post recently they were living half dead. Sums up how lots of us feel
Keep pushing though! We'll get better
Are you being treated by an LLMD?

I think you got enough replies but I will add one more... I used to drink a bottle of wine a night with dinner. Now, I cannot have any alcohol or I feel pain all over, and get drunk feeling after a couple sips.
I told my husband that this is the only disease you can't drink your problems away, LOL! I would be in a drunken stupor if my body could handle it because it makes me feel sane again but its a NO NO.
I also have the ear, throat, jaw issues you speak of and I have lyme, babs, and bart. Not sure which is causing it. Maybe speak with your doctor about taking an antimalarial for the Babesia.

Jamers - you used to drink an entire BOTTLE of wine every night???! Wow, that's a lot! Posted by philly78 (Member # 31069) on :
Me too Jamers! Not a whole bottle though. Had one or two glasses with dinner every night. No more.
I REALLY miss my wine after those rough shifts I have work. Damn you lyme disease! Damn you!!
