Okay, say you're all better now, with no symptoms. Sailing along in your recovery for one year, feeling like a million bucks. Then BOOM! You find red streaks going up your legs, or hit by a rash, or sudden onset of intense pain.
Is it possible for a co-infection to arise a year or more later AFTER treating for Lyme? Being that one never had the symptoms of co-infection before? In other words, can the co-buddy hide for a long time then bust out of hiding?

Maybe you got a new bite and didn't know it?

Yes. In "The Lyme Disease Solution" by Dr. S he talks about people treated with lyme who got (mainly) well and then crashed later with Bart, etc.

Yes. My doctor says he gets people out of the Lyme area in about a year. It's the other organisms that keep evolving and escaping treatment.

Absolutely. Very common.

UGH... I agree. I've heard of that happening. I'm so sorry you are ill again, arkie. Make sure it's not an acute infection of some sort .. you know .. the "regular" kind?

Arkie,
Are you treating for parasites? Can be a cause for many people relapsing if there not treated.

Oh, I'm not sick again, yall! I was just thinking about this.....I've been off ABX 7 months now. I feel 100% back to normal. I get a twinge in the ole elbows sometimes. The old "tennis elbow" stuff. I'm very aware things could pop up possibly, but doc never suspected a co-infection, nor did I. But then, again, who the heck knows with this crazy stuff!!
I really try to not over react to things. I'm going through menopause right now, so you can only imagine what goes through my head when I feel the slightest sensation! But seriously, I wanted to know if a co-infection could lay dormant for years.

Yes. i know a woman who was cured of lyme, then several years later came down with Bart.

I just asked my doctor the same question. I treated Lyme only for about 7-8 months and had a relapse 6 weeks after abx. We felt it was Bart. My question was do we need to treat Lyme again or could Lyme be cleared and have bart surface. Her answer was yes it could be cleared.

Well, I'm holding my own. I'll certainly know it's a possibility. Fact is, I think that when I did Salt-C for 5 weeks AFTER the abx, I believe I may have dug out the hidden buggers. I certainly feel well; heck, I've felt well for months. Thank God!!!
One thing's for sure: I have the knowledge about it now and will know what to look for in case it ever sneaks out of hiding.

Yeah, my tests showed my CD57 was 125, but I relapsed with my usual symptoms. My doctor said there was mycoplasma activity. But who knows? Maybe, it's a BLO for which I never treated.

Garbagedump? Arkie? Huh? What did I miss?
No offense to garbagedumps, I'm sure they're lovely in their own way, but the words "Arkie" and "garbagedump" never entered my mind on the same day let alone on the same post.
What in the world happened?

Oh, and by the way, Garbagedump, yes, it surely happened to my daughter!
When she was 7, she was bitten by a tick, was terribly ill for 3 months until they figured out it was lyme (it helped when she woke up one morning covered with 13 bullseyes, but they still had to check their big fat medical book).
She was treated for 3 weeks with Amoxy.
She got better over the next 3 months but weird things started happening. Stomach acid, painful lower back, unusual liver stuff, sore shins, just weird thngs for a little girl.
Her bart streaks appeared about 6 years ago (when she was 8 or 9) but I didn't know what they were. In fact, no doctor I asked knew what they were. "If they don't hurt, don't worry about it."
She was a "healthy" kid with odd health stuff happening (like a new one every year) until she became a healthy "sick" kid.
