I'd like to see what happens if I take a day or two or three off from my abx regime, I assume this is common practice? No? Anyone believe in doing this? thanks, j

I would talk to your LLMD.

Does anyone on here take breaks from Abx? How long do you stop? thanks, j

One LLMD allows breaks once a month. I tried this on my own and relapsed. I regret it as it set me back a long time.
I have taken breaks for different reasons, sometimes with herbal support, sometimes not. but I always relapsed and regretted it. I am in there for the long haul now, as long as my kidneys and liver hold out.
If you are not having any problems I would not advise taking a break as it can build resistance. It takes a while for the abx to build up in your system to theraputic levels and if you are taking breaks it weakens it. If you are having a problem then talk it over with your LLMD.

The comments above are probably accurate, but I did take a week off a few months ago. I just got to the point where I felt overloaded and wiped out. I did ok for about a week and then stuff started creeping back.....I went back on all my meds. I would call you doc....
I am not a dr and don't want to be one

I was just talking about 1 or 2 days. After 5 weeks straight I was just starting to feel slightly sick and worn, now on my day off I feel a little better. I wonder if simply days off might be a good idea, letting liver/kidney's flush out overloaded bugs. I suppose we'll never know. j

You need to detox!! That would go a very long way.
Otherwise, it's a sticky issue and not clear. But talk with your dr. But the need for detox isn't in question; it's just that most docs don't know a lot about it (some do).

Agree with Rumi Detox! Ramp up the detox, I find LLMD's don't have time to discuss detox methods at appts so this is where you will have to do your own homework.
There are a gazillion threads here on detox ideas

no, I went off for a week and it is hell. You have no immune system on abx. When you drop them you are open for attack from anything...people need to stop asking questions on this board that need to be answered by doctors. Starting and stopping abx is really bad even if some big MDs do pulse. They consider everything with the patient, it is not just a blanket treatment.

This is a toughy. On the one hand, breaks allow your body to recover, figure out what to do on its own. ON the other hand, they can build resistance. Where I'm at now is that I do take breaks, and I want my body to learn how to work on its own, but ultimately, I think a person should do whatever makes them feel best: i.e., if it works for you, and you continue to improve, do it! Right?
