Make sure you know the signs of a fungal infection, even if you already take oral anti fungal meds. Despite the right diet, supplements, and medications mine was left unchecked despite my complaints and now I need IV fungal meds which apparently have horrific side effects according to the IDSA doctor I was sent to. Symptoms include: gastrointestinal distress that is not resolved by vitamin c or other over the counter remedies, inability to absorb vitamins (except by IV) and much more.

Sorry you are dealing with a fungal infection. I've had my share as well but my LLMD keeps a very close eye on it and catches it before it gets to the point of needing an IV. White or black tongue is also a tell tale sign.

I don't know who you are seeing but a fungal infection doesn't seem like something that would be missed by an ILADS LLMD.

Don't let this stop you from continuing on with necessary treatment. Hopefully your doctor will keep a close eye on this for you or you will get to an ILADS LLMD.

Never heard of Vitamin C relieving gastro distress unless it is for constipation. I have heard of Vit C causing gastro distress though. Did your doctor say why Vit C should help gastro distress?

Hope you feel better very soon.

My LLMD has me on Designs for Health Oil of Oregano and Nystatin along with no gluten/no sugar. This helps a lot.

Are you speaking about candida? And, what IV anti-fungal are you speaking of? I have a case of yeast that keeps coming back, even with hardcore(more than diflucan or nystatin) oral anti-fungals.

It is a case of aspergillus that caused an intestinal infection. The IV medication is called amphotericin. It has genetically mutated which is why an IDSA doctor has stepped in to help. I probably managed to pick the one bad LLMD out there.

Hello.

Can you tell us what your symptoms were? Did you have diarrea or constapation or pain?

I'm asking because my accupuncturist said I have yeast in my small intestine and I'm taking herbals for it but I wonder if it's worse than I think??

Thanks. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm on compounded amphotericin B. The infection showed up when we had a leak in our utility room which caused mold growth. I was having very bad diarrhea which has slowed down a lot with this med. Also more fatigue, white tongue etc..

It took about a week before I started to feel a lot better.

You will no doubt feel better very soon. [Smile]

Aspergillus is a different fungus than candida. Candida symptoms can overlap lyme symptoms. There is a very long list of symptoms that one can have with candida.
