So i stopped doxy a month ago and instead took ceftin, biaxin and plaquenil. I now restarted doxy and take it with ceftin twice a day (normal/low end doses) and cut down biaxin once a day with plaquenil. I also took diflucan today on top of all these and am feeling like this is too much. I will talk to my llmd on monday and she will probably agree i think. Am i going to drive my immune system into the dirt taking this many different abx? thanks for any help

I took a lot of different things. Are you taking what your LLMD is prescribing? Or are you changing things on your own? When taking this many meds, you really want to be working closely with the LLMD and getting blood tests regularly to see how you're handling it.

I was prescribed the ceftin,biaxin and plaquenil and took a break from doxy and amoxycillin. I got worried yesterday about bacteria developing resistance and wanted to get back on doxy right away, but now i dont want to quit any of the abx! my liver checks are always normal...oh and i cut the biaxin dose in half because of ear issues

Some abx can't be taken together. Some do the same thing. I would encourage you to work with your LLMD. You can ask if you can add the doxy, but I wouldn't add it without his knowledge.
Another problem that arises is that he doesn't really know what treatment you've been on if you do things differently than prescribed.

thanks for replying to my panicky posts sixgoofykids, I will definitely tell my llmd what im doing. She does like to go after all 3 forms at once so i have been on 3 abx since i started treatment, but i worry about keeping the doses high enough which i probably cant do if im taking 4 different abx

How many mg. are you on per day? Have you seen the new CALDA DVD with Dr. Burrascano on it (king of lyme)? He suggested that people stick with their abx instead of switching every few weeks. I believe he said to try and stay on them for 3 or 4 mos before trying something else.
I thought my doses were too high, but after further reading, I know that Burrasacano type doctors use higher doses to kill the lyme. I asked my doctor if I could lower mine and he said why? Work with your doc. You can always quiz him or her.

I don't think we are allowed to post exact dosages but im on the low end of burrascano doses for each drug. So i found this from matthew gross "Antibiotics from the tetracycline family, the penicillin family, and cephalasporin family are typically used in the blood stream. Macrolides such as Rulid (roxythromycin), Zithromax (azithromycin), and Biaxin (clarithromycin) are used intracellular. Flagyl (metronidazole), Fasigyn (tinidazole) and Plaquenil (chloroquine) are used to combat the cyst form."
So im covering my bases but im doubling up on lyme in the blood with doxy and ceftin...again i will talk to my llmd but what is the difference between taking say a high dose of ceftin or a lower dose of both ceftin and doxy?

Plaquenil and diflucan are not antibiotics so they don't really count in with your others. You seem OK to me. We are all on different antibiotics for the different forms of the spirochete. My boys started mepron for babesia. My youngest is on many more meds that aren't antibiotics due to the symptoms of Lyme undiagnosed for so many years.
I know it seems crazy sometimes. This week my husband went to pick up meds at the pharmacy and they actually put things into a plastic bag we had so many scripts. Then it took 2 times to get the meds passed through to the car. It stinks but we are getting better.
We let our doctor know everything and communicate often.

Kari, my lyme doc told me that diflucan actually does help with babesia too and it is also an antifungal antibiotic.
