So, I'm seriously in need of major support right now. I'm really worried about my symptoms.
The appetite loss is really scary. I guess I just want to talk to someone who has dealt with SIBO.
In fact, I'm not even certain if this is what I have. Doc thinks it may be.
I haven't started xifaxin yet.

I took Cipro for three weeks, then my LLMD switched me over to plant tannins, oregano oil, and uva ursi. I then tried Humaworm. During breaks of Humaworm, I used Enula (kills roundworms).
I took probiotics the whole time. Much later, I started eating ferments - raw sauerkraut, kefir, and kombucha.
I did this stuff for well over a year to rebuild my gut. I also took and still take Thorne Bio-gest. I muscle test at each meal for quantity of capsules.
My gut is pretty normal now. It was a lot of work, but this was a big piece of achieving wellness for me.

So sixgoofykids, did you have SIBO? Did you test positive for it or did your doc treat you based on symptoms?
What were your sibo symptoms again?

My doctor did a stool test and found I had a bad bacteria overgrowth in the gut. I had constant, watery diarrhea, weight loss, poor digestion, and stomach pain (severe) when I ate.

My GI doctor just "decided" I had SIBO and prescribed the xifaxin for two weeks. Thanks to him, I got a massive yeast infection.
So I was worse off than when we started. Posted by lymers (Member # 21512) on :
Lymetoo,
Sorry to hear. How did you know you had yeast? I'm trying to figure out if I have yeast or sibo or something else.
Thanks,

So, sixgoofykids and lymetoo,
is dysbiosis of the gut curable? Or, is it permanent once the gut bacteria have become out of balance?

My gut is back in balance. It was hard work and I had to do most things myself (without the doctor recommending them, ie fermenting foods, herbs, etc.).
If all you do is take the abx for it, I would say you won't be cured. This is something you have to work at. I had a tapeworm, dozens of roundworms, some kind of fish worms (can't remember the name), klebsiella and citrobacter. My gut is healthy now.

- bloating, esp if eating carbs or sugar itching Those are my two main symptoms when I get it. Pretty easy to spot.
Stop eating carbs and sugar to see if you feel better. Be strict for a few days.
