I am concerned that my great-nephew may have congenital Lyme.
(See my post 7/25).
He will be having tubes placed in his ears b/c of so many ear infections next week.
Anyone know of any reliable tests they can do on ear fluid to check for spirochetes?
I will call IGeneX and ask them also.

Wow! Interesting question. I never thought of it. I guess if you were going to test for Lyme you would do it through urine or blood the normal way. But they can test placenta and umbilical cord so.... I imagine testing ear fluid would be more expensive.
How old is he again?

I hope to find out that this is possible...since all four of my children have had chronic ear problems (fluid, infections) it sure would have saved years of health, time, and money if ear fluid could have been checked.
Pretty sure I read that they have found spirochetes in breastmilk...or something like that.
If your great-nephew's mom or dad had lyme, then he certainly could have it, especially if his mom was not being treated during her pregnancy.

Ear infections are commonly caused by fungus in the ear.
My daughter has been getting ear aches pretty regularly for over a year... no abx seemed to help. Same with her sinus infections. Abx were useless.
I have been using acetic acid ear drops for my daughter and myself since I found out we have been battling mold. (only when we have ear aches)
I only started getting earaches when detoxing the mold. I did have some major ringing in the ears when we were living in the moldy home.
Not sure if you can find a doctor in the U.S that is doing the treatment/diagnosis this guy is... he is in India.
