Hi you all,

Thanks for being there for me anytime day and night!!!

I have eye symptoms:

had one day of double vision (on mild doxy dose - Herx? - doxy is done now and I don't have more for now),

always blurred vision now more or less, often more,

eye pain, sometimes sharp, mostly dull pain like someone is pushing their thumbs into my eye balls

I have my LLMD apt on Oct 6 and am really excited about that.

But sometimes I freak out about my eyes, am afraid to go blind or have irreversible damage

not sure I should wait two months....

is that foolish?

if I was not so sure I had Lyme, I would see someone immediately

BUT, don't want to see ONE MORE JERK who just takes money for not helping at all / denying Lyme exists, etc. etc.

I really need the money for the Lyme doc

not sure what a regular doc could/should due with my Lyme eyes

not sure if it can really wait

any experiences on your part? I know you can't really give me medcal advice, but just some ideas and talking would really help

[confused]

Thank you!

Hi Harmony,
I have had one swollen (under) right eye for over a year. I have to say I have the blurriness too. I have no idea if it is from Lyme or Bartonella or Scleroderma. No pain, no pressure and doctor has seen it twice with NO reaction. So, I will tell you that with treatment of minocycline, it did go down along with blurriness BUT with some antibiotics and having yeast caused me to have blurred vision and double vision. I couldn't drive for months. Presently, I am not being treated due to canidida yeast which is making the same eye blurry. I am slowly getting rid of this yeast with no meds just diet and antifungal. I also got from this yeast, bursitis in the left elbow with fluid in it. The more I excrete the die off yeast the more that fluid goes down and the more the eye does too. I still east carbs but just the good ones.
Good luck
K

IMO your eyes are too important to wonder about. Could you see a reputable eye doc (maybe even post in seeking) and not mention lyme?

That way he could rule out any infection/inflammation or problems. Your could always follow up with your LLMD in 2 mo.

I, too, have had very irritable eyes, double vision & blurry vision. It was one of my 1st symptoms (before I'd ever heard of lyme).

Mine flared more when I started Bart treatment but are now more normal. I do use drops for dry eye...a good OTC one is Soothe.

God bless & heal you and show you what to do.

It could be lyme of course but not everything is lyme. I wouldn't wait for 2 months. Besides, I don't think an LLMD will be able to tell you for sure whether it's lyme or not. The first visit is usually very busy and this would just add another complication.

I'd go to an Opthamologist (not an optometrist) and have them check your eyes.

That said, I get blurred vision anytime I'm toxed out. It was really bad off and on for the first few years of lyme treatment. I also get blurred vision with high blood sugars. I don't get the sharp pains though with either of those.

You shouldn't wait. I would strongly suggest two things:
call the LLMD's and ask to be put on their cancellation list to see if something opens up sooner than Oct. ANd don't hesitate to call and check every week, too.

Post in Seeking a Doctor for a Lyme Literate Opthalmologist. Yes, you could see a non-Lyme Literate one, but in my experience over many years, when I had horrible eye problems, the regular opthalmologist didn't see any problem. But when I finally got to a LL one, she saw plenty of serious issues to address!

There is an excellent one in WEstchester, NY, but, of course, that's a long way from you!!

Lyme is well known to affect the eyes badly. The dr in NY will even consult with your LLMD, if necessary, about recommendations for treatment that will help the eyes. Not everyone needs that part, but when it's bad, it's important.

Well, I have something to say about this. I did see a neuro-opthalmologist for my eye symptoms, which included increasing blurry vision - which, I agree with you, is one scary symptom.

And he couldn't find anything wrong in all the tests he had me do, even though he had to anesthetize my eyes for me to be able to look at light. Then wanted me to do steroids.

The next day, my chiropractor suggested I try drinking some mangosteen juice, which is an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice.

We are all different, and this is my story: within one hour of starting the juice - I tried the Ultra one, from Trace Minerals - my eye muscle pain and blurred vision greatly reduced.

In 24 hours time, my eye muscle pain and blurred vision were gone, and my eye floaters and light sensitivity were greatly reduced.

I now drink a half ounce in the am and pm and have no Lyme eye symptoms.

If you want to try it, there are lots of mangosteen juice varieties in stores and online. I like the Ultra and the Mango-xan ones.

And go slowly, as it can be powerful, and drink water as well.

Only the mangosteen juice has affected my eyes - no other supplement has, nor my antibiotics.

Thank you all so much!

I will try the mangosteen juice Ultra from Trace Minerals [lick]

I am on the cancellation list with the LLMD and will go in in person tomorrow to drop my pre-visit package off, and ask again about a cancellation... [Wink]

Rumigirl, would you be able to send me a PM with the eye doc name in NY please? if I get desperate enough and can take time off, I may go up there to see her/him... [kiss]

will also post a request for LL-Opthamologist in my area [dizzy]

You guys are the best!
[group hug]

my family does not care or know half as much as you'all adn I can't think straight myself half the time, so I am very happy you are there for all of us

Thank you!

update:

Thank you so much, Robin!

Tried the Mangosteen Juice (Trace Minerals Ultra)and may have herxed on it with double vision two days later - kept taking it - eye pain stopped !!! which I had continuously for days/weeks before that - so this was a big deal for me

it could be coincidence, of course, but I thought I would post the information as another case history/data point

I took a big spoon full twice a day (am and pm) at first and then a small shot glass 3/4 full (am and pm) - eye pain stopped with in two to three days

blurred vision improved some but still there

no more double vision since the last episode, at the second day of Mangosteen Juice

to date

Excellent!! Glad to hear that it worked for you! Also, the Ultra has 70 minerals in it, and always hardens my nails, so you might watch for that little dividend as well...

Super - thanks - I could just drink that stuff - have to stop myself and just "take a shot" am and pm - he he

wonder if my body needs it or I just wnat it since it is sweet and tastes good

anyway - graet supplement!

beats the bitter, buffered Vit C powder I drink (to avoid magnesium sterate in the Vit C pills)
