I've been on Abx for bart since last october. 3 months ago I developed bronchial issues that would not go away. At 1st is was a bit of a cough but turned into my lungs feeling constricted. LLMD thought it might be yeast so I went off abx and have been on Nystatin. Symptoms got a little better but wouldn't go away so I just saw a pulmonologist to see what was going on. They gave me a pulmonary function test and an ekg which were both good. The hooked an oxygen saturation clip to my finger and had me walk around for 2 minutes. During the walk my oxygen dropped to 89. A month ago when I saw my llmd he made me take deep breaths while listening to my lungs. He asked if I felt dizzy, which I did. He said that the lyme does this. It robs us of something. ( He explained in medical terms which I don't remember) Could this low oxygen be related to bart?

Lyme likes low oxygen concentrations, so it will do what it can to deprive you of oxygen in the place in the body where it is hiding.
Essential oils can re-oxygenate tissues. I was in the hospital for pleural effusion and they had an oxygen monitor on my finger. Before getting essential oils applied topically to my feet, my oxygen level was about 95. After the oils were applied, the oxygen level shot up to 99 and stayed there for a while before falling back to 95 again.
Deep breathing exercises may help, too - do them slowly, and only a few at a time to begin with while your body gets used to them. Stop doing them when/if you get dizzy.
I don't know if Bart also can lower oxygen levels or not...

Don't know if it's bart or whatnot, know it can be lyme-related. I treated with 2 hours/day on an oxygen concentrator for a couple months--it helped a lot.

Have any of you ever had your oxygen saturation checked? I believe that being short of breath doesn't neccessarily mean that your oxygen is low. Michael in Tampa we share the same doc. Have you ever called or emailed them about a concern you had. I would like to address this with my doc but I have no reason to see him until I go back on ABX which may be a while.

My llmd checks it every time I go there, and a number of other docs I go to check it. I had it just checked this morning, 98, very good. It is always very good, even before abx for lyme & co. Never had it checked before I used the oxygen concentrator. I don't need the oxygen concentrator treatment anymore and it still maintains a good score. So, I have not really discussed this with my lyme doc, as the oxygen has been good through the whole time I have been seeing him.

My daughter has had trouble getting a good breath and excessive yawning for months. Oximeter readings were always okay. Had a blood gas test that showed everything all out of whack. She totally failed the test that a pulmonologist did for breathing capacity.
Our new LLMD attributes this to Bartonella I believe. Says she sees it often.
