I get severe abdominal pains after eating ( solid foods only ) liquids and soft foods dont seem to bother me .
The pains seem to start 1 - 2 hours after eating and last for about 3-4 hours .
The pain is not in the stomach . they are only present during digestion .
after the pains subside I feel great .
Any thoughts . Thanks

Is it worse after a more fatty meal? If so, you may consider gall bladder issues. I had awful pain in what seemed like top center of stomach but is actually to the right, right under liver. I had to have gallbladder removed. Maybe you could catch it earlier if that's what it is. Good luck!

I have gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying). when it is worse it causes pain (actually i always have to watch what i eat)liquids and soft foods are easier to digest and pass through with less effort on the stomach. (and faster than solid food)
i had to have an endosopy to have it diagnosed.
gallbladder pain can radiate and not necesarily be isolated to the gallbladder area.
other thing is food senstivity like say when you are eating the solid foods is it always with gluten or diary or sugar etc. and maybe when u eat the liquid or soft food you are leaving it out.
- just thoughts from my expereinces

Blood flow to the GI tract can present with pain that starts within a certain time after eating and then passes after a while. An ultrasound of the major abdominal blood vessels may or may not help diagnose this.
Inflammation in the gut can cause this same pain pattern. I've experienced it...the only thing that made it go away for me was either steroids (if you can at all avoid them, do!) or going on an elemental formula exclusive diet (meal replacement with amino-acid-based drink mix - no whole food proteins to trigger inflammation/allergic reactions) for at least 6 weeks...

if you have a gallbladder, consider that. also the pancreas, which lyme can affect. i have real problems with pancreas.
then, i hate to say this, ibs. althought that's purely a trashcash diagnosis if you ask me.
meds can really mess up your system.

I've known two men with lyme who have severe pain in the valves of their digestive system.
The way they explained it to me was this - there are 3 valves in the digestive system that are inflamed and not working to let food pass thru.
The first valve connects the stomach to the small intestine, the second connects the small intestine to the large intestine, and the third connects the large intestine to the colon.
One of the guys, everytime he eats, he writhes (in pain it looks like) to get the food to pass thru. The other guy told me the pain is so bad he doesn't know how much longer he can hold on.
The first guy used the Bionic to treat lyme (which he has and bart) but so far has had no improvement.
The second guy (with lyme and bart at the very least) has been using the Bionic at the location of the pain, to treat the pain (not lyme) and is getting relief.
I suppose he'll treat lyme with it after he deals with this issue.
Don't know if this sounds like your pain or not, but maybe this will help.

The third valve is between the colon and rectum, not the large intestine and colon... This valve is called the Valve of Huestons.
The valve that connects the small to the large intestine is the Ileal-Cecal Valve.
The valve at the bottom of the stomach is the Pyloric Valve.
I know how to manually release the valves at both ends of the large intestine, but not the one at the bottom of the stomach. Many chiropractors or acupuncturists can also help with releasing these valves. Most people have trouble with these valves getting stuck open; mine get stuck closed. This improved a lot for me when I went on a gluten-free diet, so food sensitivities may play a role in the valve issues.

I just made up a joke. Tell me what you think:
What did one constipated man say to the other? "Hueston, we have a problem!"
Okay tell me the truth; was that bad? Posted by 17hens (Member # 23747) on :
Well, it did make me chuckle. Does that mean it's bad or good?
